I wouldn't join the military because they literally brainwash you and train you to kill. I've known quite a few people that have been through it and most of them agree.

During basic training they stress and tire your mind and try to push it to the point where it's in absolute "survival mode". When you are in that state of mind your brain learns easier it stores and picks up everything you are being taught.

You will never forget, how to fight and kill.

If you end up in battle, your brain is going to be forced to remember and reinforce everything it learned, you will never forget the action you see. This can lead to all sorts of mental issues, from simple stress, to PTSD, or even psychosis.

Why do you think suicide rates are so high among veterans? Did you know that it is confirmed that more veterans have killed themselves after the war than U.S. soldiers that have died in Afghanistan? The statistics aren't even completely accurate and people are saying the numbers of suicides are really higher.

Don't fall for that it's honorable to fight for your nation B.S. the wars we are fighting right now are fucked up. We are the invaders and aggressors in a foreign nation, the people of Afghanistan and Iraq have the unalienable right to pick up weapons and fight. We are doing the dirty work for the zionists in Israel and anyone that opposes them or their agenda is labeled a terrorist or a radical.

It's a volunteer service. If you volunteer to put yourself in a combat situation, its a damn good thing they put your brain in survival mode, so you can SURVIVE when you have to.

Also, the profession most likely to commit suicide is dentist, so let's not blame suicidal tendencies on career training.

Agreed.

The military taught me how to fight on a basic level. After that, they taught me how to lead people, speak to large audiences, and fix heavy machinery. And much of what I learned there, I still use on a daily basis today.

Whatever you do though, don't choose combat arms MOS's. You wont learn half the skills that will help you in the long run. Study hard for the ASVAB test, and pick a career that will keep you interested and stimulated.

The French Foreign Legion is tough as hell, make you sure you know exactly what you're getting into here because this is serious. There's a few documentaries on youtube, check them out.

And at the end of the day isnt that what i really want? To shoot and be shot at with action and adventure the horrors of war? I DO! But for another nation?

Now you mentioned as well that you figure it our for yourself, right or wrong. Its my opinion that whatever is, is right, that there is no wrong and its not even wrong to think you were wrong. Following your passion seems like the best way to live. If you thirst for battle then it will be yours whether you end up as a bar brawler or a hired gun in the French Foreign Legion. It sounds to me like an amazing adventure and a wild life. The characters you interact with will be some of the vilest scum from all the continents and those will be your fellows. What a life, like an adventure movie.

You seem like you've gotten to know yourself so instead of simply asking you "Who are You?" and not for your name or some label or what society calls you, but who are you, not what clothes you wear or image you have I'll add the question "What do you want?"

Do you know what you want? If it's war and wonderous adventure and new ways of slaughtering men and being slaughtered by other men then that's a wild ride. Is there really anything stopping you other than you? The French Foreign Legion might make a better adventure than the US commando squads or special forces simply because your companions will be more colorful characters. Is there anything other than your opinion or belief that you should only fight for your native land keeping you from doing it? Are those opinions and beliefs standing between you and your adventure worth retaining, are they true and do they serve you or hinder you? Only you can answer those. I'd only caution not to let anyone else tell you not to do it or to do it, it is your life, your choice, and potentially your adventure if thats what you really want.

So Sterben, don't answer this in the thread, it might take years to answer honestly to yourself. Who are you and what do you want? Only you, infinity, and the universe await your choices.

Military is probably the worst decision you could make in my opinion. Especially fighting for this country which is fucking the military over. Also, I have retired military family and theyre kinda fucked in the head after being brain washed, selling their soul for a retirement check and killing innocent civilians in the war. Well that's a load no one should bare.

I understand your desire to travel though.
