No I don't hate bulk. I have continued to do them on occasion, usually mycobags as they have a higher success rate inoculating into them than I had with monotubs.
But my strongest fruits were always from the way I grow now, I enjoy my initial sterile success on grains being complete success for the grow, and I vastly prefer a few minutes of watering per week over buying, handling, heat-treating, inoculating, colonizing, and disposing of bulk substrates.

As somebody who has been growing just over a year I can see the pros and cons of both. If successfully they are both stand up and very usable. If something goes wrong the pp5 are better as you only lose smaller amounts it you do it separately.
For me in the summer because im on the road all the time Monotubs are going to be much more manageable as I dont need to do any maitenance.
The comparable argument is and little like arguing does water taste better in a bottle or glass.

Bothe methods definitely have merit. I like experimenting with different methods as much as anyone. Last month I fruited RGS and coir out of PP5s half the size of those screw tops and it was fun but for me bulk will always be #1. I just prefer to get my fruits a little quicker rather than waiting for several flushes.

so we're agreed. everyone's right.
and now, a little porn of my own.
my first zipjar from my comparison log. still putting out.

first and second flush. went a little nuts with the digicam. not pretty like yours, bodhi, but i'll take it. believe it, they're plenty strong. i've concluded all of these genetics are absolutely non-sporulating. so no prints. on the bright side, the cultures are archived. i've found that they're also not gag inducing, i guess cause there's no spores? anyway, it's pretty great munching em compared to some others i've grown.
spawned some some pan cyans today, wish me luck. also, can anyway answer my earlier question about pan culturing? specifically, do people generally shoot for isolates or rely more on multispore?

I just started my first pan grow, I'm not going to isolate but I'm doing a couple transfers on agar to limit genetics a little. Doing like 4 or so transfers.

Spawned my first pans yesterday. I made a few transfers to make sure the growth was clean but no isolates.

you can go eiter way but i would just go multi-spore first and clone

I'm limited on space right now so I can't have a tub going agar was just the easiest way to go.

That's VERY nice. Truly, I seldom get first-flush results like that.
^^^^ That is the best result I've gotten from a grass seed cake in its first flush.
I just use 50-60 (55) grams of seed per container though, and if I recall correctly you used more. But that's beside the point - that container did VERY well. Perhaps it will continue to do well in future flushes!
Maybe, with the same practice we give to ALL grow techniques, you'll do better with this technique than I could!
Is that culture different than the others? Do you have it banked?
Anyways, good job! Hope that dries up to ~10g!

It was one of the cultures from the 6 "isolates" I made for this thread out of the 6 blind isolates only that one did well. I kind of expected that since these were isolates straight from spores so I had no idea about their performance until tested.
It is banked.

~10 grams dry. 75g dry RGS was in that cup to start with. ~143% BE first flush
