You are indeed entitled to that opinion.  My main point here is to call A-tek only a novelty grow is an extreme understatement.
Take the same culture.  Fill up a closet of identical size with bulk and A-tek.  Let both spaces flush out till they are spent.  My money 100% is on the A-tek closet that it will produces higher yields than the bulk closet.

:nojustno:

Been there done that.  V/A tek seems to be picky about the culture used

 it's to limited not to be a novelty:shrug: it's ok for cubes and thats about it, you certainly could grow a fuckton of cubes with it, but still......

All I have played around with is cubes so that could be why I favor it more.  I just seem to see quite a lot of disapproval for a method that is damn easy.

Cronic, can you explain a bit more by what you mean by limited?  I thought cased grains were a pretty universal medium for actives.

Pasty, how is the same culture not a fair comparison?  What was there reasoning?

I think it would be cool to do a comparison one of these days for fun.  I still have like six coir bricks sitting around from when I switched over.

pasty thought it would be fun too:crazy: but i mean it 's limited to certain species and edibles is pretty much out of the question, cool to fill a sgfc or something up with but if you want weight to your harvest there are better options IMO

honestly, i thought the best part of the v tek was getting clean pins for cloning.  then i started making stiff dog food agar in pasty plates, and i just use that for clone pins now.

This is really still happening? A few growers (many of them relatively new) post pictures of their first attempts - mostly not great, but neither were mine - and overly-outspoken people keep trying to drive "anti" rhetoric home, drilling it into the minds of forum readers for whatever vested interests...

I truly am not surprised that well-learned bulk substrate people are entrenched in their ways.  Nor am I bothered by your skewed take on these matters from your entrenchments.

Honestly I don't have time for this silly mess.  It's why you have been seeing less and less of me here, and won't be seeing Any of me before long.
You people have the right to convince other people of the ways you see things just as much as you have (and use) the right to be cherry-picking fact-skewing small-sample-size-exaggerating one-trick-ponies.
And I have the right to be above it all, see the truth of my grow techniques, and enjoy them as earnestly as I've shared them here.

A little lesson about Perspectives, people... Everyone is convinced that theirs is valid, because everyone's mind has some way of looking at it with an angle that makes it appear so.

This is why people argue.  If the APPARENT validity of your perspective was really so encompassing and convincing, then the differences of perspective would have long-ago resolved to one inarguable truth.

My angle?  Don't argue.  Grow.
And when I grow, I get results - the results that I've posted with the cased watered grains technique.
It's that simple, damnit.  My grow technique works.  Like anything else, you have to learn it, and it has LOTS of room for optimization.  Maybe some people don't care enough to learn how to succeed in more than the first way they learned, but that's not the technique's fault.

I know, rite?!?!?!

It's SO FUCKING EASY!
By the time you have prepared 'spawn' for a bulk grow, the straight-grain cakes are Done!  No extra work - save for a tiny bit of casing, which uses a fraction of the material than bulk substrates.

See above.
Are you forgetting that you clean and prepare multiple containers ANYWAY?
What do YOU call "glass jars"? They're fragile, heavy, and harder to clean.

I knew you were watching.

I still say try it both ways.

I don't even do monotubs and these pp5's would be quite a hassle to try to keep up with my little bulk bricks.

monotubs would slay these in time and yield efficiency, find out for yourself or pick someone to listen to, my name is blue and green and violets is violet just pick what you like I guess.

Well I gotta agree with bodhi, for cubes bulk is just too simple. Maybe I am just set in my ways, but the new age did feel like more work (probably wasn't, just different/not as ideal for my lifestyle at that point). However at the moment my SGFC is chock full of PP5s and not a cube in the mix. I am really stoked. I am gonna have to dig out my other SGFC cause I got even more pp5 coming up soon. I even got some enoki going using a combo of the invitro pp5 method, and a mix of fuel pellets and grains. Never had to shake it and the enoki seem to like it :awesomenod: I should take a pic

I don't want to get too hung up on teks, take what works for you and run with it. I have high hopes for my current v tek experiments and while I just was not a fan of the process for cubes, that does not mean that it won't fit someone else's needs. Just for the record,  I also had someone try my v tek fruits and got excellent reviews.

I had a go at this too!
Results were poor because I didn't mix in sawdust, but I could tell that it would do very well.

Using pint containers instead, with some kind of make-shift top containment (I.E. liter bottles with the bottoms cut off) it could be a very efficient way to grow Enoki.
12-16 containers in an unmodified tote might do very well too, since the tall containment's purpose is to retain CO2 as Enoki seems to 'like' it...

WTF are you talking about.

When I make spawn, I hydrate it using grain dunk TEK or just pour it out. Rinse it under a faucet and let it dry, No washing at all. When I'm ready to use it again I fill it up put the lid on and PC.

When I use a quart jar to make substrate I dump out the coir when I'm spawning, coir is stuck to the glass. rinse it out under the sink, no washing done at all.

I've never washed a quart jar  unless it had contaminated spawn.

I however have to scrub off pp5 containers since they don't tend to rinse clean

I've also never broke a glass jar but the PP5 jars do get dented in the PC unless they're right in the sweet spot with being loosened before cooking.

can't use the dishwasher too much energy for the new age. Got to be mindful of that stuff, Washing your jars in a dishwasher takes some percentage points away from your cleaning up BE
