Not sure what Path to take in life...
    #19407783 - 01/12/14 10:46 AM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Well. Not sure what i should do with my life.

I wanted to go into the Military im 22 Now. But when i was 18 me an a friend got diversion/community service for having a bong in the car. So i go into the requiters and they say im not able to join. that was about a year ago. Im Crushed my dream to wear a uniform and go travel and meet ladies but also serve my country was crushed.

So i looked at the options of going into the French Foreign legion..But my friend said that would be the easy road. i figure hey i get to leave the US go to France, learn french, make love to beautiful french women, and be different, Unlike most young guys who live in the us then out of high school join the US military (Cough what i should have done)i dont want to fight for another nation, especially one i didn't grow up in.

My other friend who just became a marine said, "Dude..theirs a dude that shot someone in a driveby in boot camp with us, idk how you cant get a weaver for pot?"

Im young, i cant see past being 25..But idk. I want the Discipline and Military experience. i long for it. But idk..Thank you for your time

It sounds like you only want to be in the military to "meet ladies" and "make love to beautiful women"

You probly arent cut out to be a man in uniform

Stay out of the military. It's not fun, it's not glamorous. It's bullshit.

The French Foreign Legion is definitely not "the easy road" from what I've read. I've heard the FFL is much harder than the US military, they only accept like 1 out of every 10 recruits. And keep in mind, the FFL has a 5 year contract, that's a big commitment.

The military life isn't all that. You'll probably never see action, and if you do, it won't be something you're proud of.

Get to know yourself. Most people never know who they are. The best way to get to know yourself is to live alone and as isolated as possible without any TV or mass media for at least a year or two. People are amazed by the fact that I never feel lonely for instance, the reason for that is that I know myself and like my own company as well as anyone elses. Thats just one of the minor benefits of getting to know yourself, there are many more.

My mom used to be a recruiter. I remember her telling me that arrests (even for drugs) are not necessarily a disqualifying factor when joining the military. But apparently most recruiters are not willing to put in the research and paperwork to make it happen.

If this is the direction you want to take, I would go talk to more recruiters, and see what they have to say. Seems like the Navy was beating down my door years back. And they took a lot of guys that the other service branches wouldn't consider.

And at the end of the day isnt that what i really want? To shoot and be shot at with action and adventure the horrors of war? I DO! But for another nation?

This is true

I advise against joining unless you are using the service as a means to an end, like getting your college paid for, or if it is the only option you have left to get your shit together. There are better ways to travel and meet ladies.

If you MUST join, then you should be able to. There are waivers for just about every legal problem, having a bong in your car is not much of an offense. I've served with all kinds of drug addicts, dealers, gangstas. Your recruiters are lying too you, they have probably made their quota, and they don't want to go through the trouble of pushing the paperwork through to get you in. Maybe find different recruiters?

Also this

The FFL is tougher than US Marines

I started reading the similar threads and came across this post that is worth sharing:

Quote:

I went into the Marine Corps when i was 19. Boot camp sucked. It was more mentally difficult, than it was physically difficult. Don't get me wrong, i was worked like a horse, and i lost 55 pounds. But the hardest part was living with constant hazing, indignity, and the giant mind fuck they pull to reprogram you. The whole time i was ashamed for being there, and there was no giving up. You are not allowed to leave. There are no breaks. There were no calls to home to see if the family was ok.

The only way to get out of boot camp, was to graduate. The whole time they remind you that you are only there to kill people for the government. That is what they are training you to do. Your not there for any reason but to be their puppet. If you join the Marine Corps with any other ambitions past killing someone. You are in the wrong place. When you are a Marine, you are a basic rifleman first. Above all else your job is to know how to kill, and do it without remorse.

All in all it was fun as hell. Well, as far as getting mind fucked everyday. The exercise was great. They don't let you quit. You either get fit, or die trying. someone did die trying in boot camp while i was there.

You get no respect until you graduate. Before that, you are treated worse than a pile of shit. Afterwards, you are treated like a brother by every marine. My problem was, after boot camp, i held no respect at all for the title i earned. I went in the military for the wrong reasons. I wanted college money. I wanted to make something of myself. I wanted to make my parents proud of me for once. I had no plans right out of high school, so i figured hell why not. I was not told the amount of hazing you get the whole time in boot camp. I'm talking about shit i wont tell you. Screw everything you think hazing can be. Screw thinking standing there while getting screamed at face to face for a hour. Thats the easy shit.

The only memories i have of the military were complete disgust in the whole process of making marines. A recruiter will not tell you any of this shit. I made it through boot camp barley keeping myself in tact. Most of the guys i went in with, came out completely different people. I do not mean for the better. Better for the government if they want compliant killing machines. Not better if you are a peaceful soul like myself. Everything you value in life they want to destroy, then remake you as a government pawn. Oh they do a damn fine job, then send you off with a smug ego like you are some damned crown prince. But all you are is another number on a list for someone to use like property. Think slavery here.

Was this supposed to be supportive of the military? Oh well. I have nothing supportive to say other than if you want to be a trained killer with little or no remorse, then join up. If not, then there is no other reason to pick the Marine Corps. I have no place being there at all period. I took my honorable discharge and GTFO of there.

I have no experience with any other branch of the military, but IMO the settings are the same, just at different levels. I NEVER would suggest going into the military as long as you have another means of living your life. Live free, live well, stay the fuck out of the military. Of course im bias. Oh yeah, get everyhting they promise you in writing. Recruiters LIE LIKE NO OTHER. If it's not in the paperwork, it's a scam. I was told being a combat engineer joining up that i i recived a bonus after i completed my training. YEH RIGHT! After training i asked where that money was and i was laughed at! It is a common lie, and it's a giant joke in the end.

How stupid. He wanted to go through college, so he joined the branch exclusively for the dumbest of dumb.
If you want schooling and benefits, join the Chair Force or the Navy. Not the fucking Marines.

Sounds like he ended up precisely where he needed to be.

All other branches refer to the Air Force as the Chair Force. Navy is Gayvy.

But yea, OP, your recruiter is full of shit. Non-violent crimes do not disqualify you from the military, especially a misdemeanor.

I wouldn't join the military because they literally brainwash you and train you to kill. I've known quite a few people that have been through it and most of them agree.

During basic training they stress and tire your mind and try to push it to the point where it's in absolute "survival mode". When you are in that state of mind your brain learns easier it stores and picks up everything you are being taught.

You will never forget, how to fight and kill.

If you end up in battle, your brain is going to be forced to remember and reinforce everything it learned, you will never forget the action you see. This can lead to all sorts of mental issues, from simple stress, to PTSD, or even psychosis.

Why do you think suicide rates are so high among veterans? Did you know that it is confirmed that more veterans have killed themselves after the war than U.S. soldiers that have died in Afghanistan? The statistics aren't even completely accurate and people are saying the numbers of suicides are really higher.

Don't fall for that it's honorable to fight for your nation B.S. the wars we are fighting right now are fucked up. We are the invaders and aggressors in a foreign nation, the people of Afghanistan and Iraq have the unalienable right to pick up weapons and fight. We are doing the dirty work for the zionists in Israel and anyone that opposes them or their agenda is labeled a terrorist or a radical.
