Look at what the media is portraying as a plus-sized model.
    #19407560 - 01/12/14 09:48 AM (10 years, 19 days ago)

http://mytinysecrets.com/this-is-the-new-plus-size-model-are-you-kidding-me-did-i-miss-out-on-something/

"So according to the magazine Cosmopolitan this is the new plus-size model. Right. Yes. Of course, she is plus-size. So if she is plus-size what does normal size look like?

No wonders this society is screwed up if the media declares this as Plus-Size."

"How does this make you feel?

Much love, Adina

P.s. Please share this with your friends. It is crucial that we help this society to create a healthy natural image of the female body. I am sure Cosmopolitan did not have any bad intentions, but we have to become more mindful about what we say and how we see women. I am no crazy feminist, but the female body and mind has been exposed to so much mind-manipulation that it is about time reinforce a healthy natural idea of a female’s body. No plastic surgery, no hardcore fancy diets. Just a healthy, mindful life."

-All I (thirtygoats) have to say is wow, the media just gets worse everyday. If that girl is plus-sized, then I wonder what they'd say if she weighed 20 more pounds? Probably something even more fucked up like "obese" or "overweight" or even "fat". Personally, the girl in the picture is too skinny and could use an extra 20 pounds. Why is the media so hellbent on coercing women to starve themselves and be skinny? What is the point? What is the motive? This shit's crazy.

Well I guess she's a plus-sized model, not a plus-sized woman.

What's up with her tiny head though?

Eh.. are we looking at the same picture, or... is that slang for "She's really hot." ? Because all I see is a 115 pound girl who looks like she hasn't eaten in about 4 days.

My point was that since regular-size models are thin women, a regular-sized woman would be a plus-size model.

Crystal geyser is gonna come in here any second now and claim that that woman is technically obese.

Context people, she is a plus sized model. Fashion is a visual industry and has different standards than everyday life.

Also to note, that photo has been suspected of being highly photoshopped to make her appear thinner than usual. The woman is a size 12, bit overweight.

I don't know how a girl's ass even gets this big. Maybe it's photoshopped, I don't know but that's like ungodly big.

Ever heard of a wide angle lens? It makes things in the foreground appear huge and things in the background appear tiny. This is what is going on in this picture. No photoshop.

They use tele lenses in fashion for this exact reason. To prevent weird  disfigurements.

call it plus sized, BBW, curvy, 'healthy', whatever, I find it wholly unattractive. even worse than the appearance is the feel of a non-thin girl, its like the body heat can't penetrate out all the way so trying to cuddle them you just feel a lardy cold against you. to each his own though.

actually, that's a normal shadow for the direction and height of the light, the shadow would be moving the other direction (toward the dresser) if it were shopped to expand her ass, if anything it would be a cut and paste

that being said

bus driver butt. large butt/hips and a small waist, it happens, it occurs a
lot with athletic women that have focused more on leg strength such as
gymnasts and cheerleaders, in this instance the angles certainly play a
large part in making her butt look huge, perspective is everything

Im all for ass. I'm all for tits. I'm all for the whole volleyball player look. But that original model OP posted has the most awkward body type ive seen. Zero ass, wide hips with not very shapely legs. Exta body fat tiny head pretty face? All she has is a face. How is that model material. Shed skinny fat and thats not a good thing to be ladies.

I can't tell if you guys are joking or not but she's pretty fucking hot and I'd say that her body type is completely average.  When I say average I don't mean the American average including the ridiculous percentage of obese people but what average *should* be.

I can't tell if you guys are joking or not but she's pretty fucking hot and I'd say that her body type is completely average.  When I say average I don't mean the American average including the ridiculous percentage of obese people but what average *should* be.

I agree.

Soft is sexy! Also she was hardly fat.

She is most certainly plus-sized. Not to say she is obese, yet, but there is nothing even remotely normal-sized about her.
She's but a few six-packs shy of a beer belly, that's for sure.

I think you nailed it. She's actually disproportionate looking (my apologies to her).

I was wondering that too. Why are her arms so skinny while her hips and waist are so big?

She actually doesn't look fat or big to me based on that picture, but I'd really like to see another picture of her where she looks more proportioned (along with height, weight, stats) to see what she really looks like.

Ohhhhhhhhh shit, yea, based on that picture, she is definitely plus-sized. She looks to be about a size 12-16 in dress clothing.

In the modeling industry anything above a size 8 is considered "plus-size." Many "regular" models are actually between 00-4. If we're talking dress-sizes and not pants sizes, then many of the skinny models with wider hips will often be a 6.

Fat is when you have excess fat, which you can see rolling out of the top of her swimming suit waist. The fact that Cosmo probably photoshopped out all the cellulite and cottage cheese from her body means she is probably even fatter than the picture.

There is a difference between being big and thick or wide, and FAT.

The girl that Cosmo featured, definitely fat. She has a large stomach, which is the number 1 symptom of excess body fat.

This girl below, is simply a thick girl. I see that she has a small and defined waist, and she is very "toned" with an athletic build. She has muscular shoulders and muscular legs. She probably wears between a size 8-12, but she is in good shape, she is simply "thick."

Compare the difference between the two, it's easy to see that one is fat and the other is not.

Exactly. I think she looks great. She looks very athletic to me, very muscular legs, muscular shoulders, tiny waist, probably has a really nice bubble but... the girl Cosmo chose just looks fat. No ass, humongous waist, no muscle tone in the legs... she pretty much looks like she drinks beer all the time, whereas the girl on the left looks like she works out a fuck ton.

I'm sure this has already been said but who the fuck cares?

Words are just words and numbers are just numbers, that looks as much like a plus size as any sized woman. Why does the "+" offend people?
:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:
If that's what a plus sized woman looks like people should be happy to call themselves plus sized.

Pull that rod out of your ass, society. I thought our country had an obesity issue, now suddenly encouraging people to be thin is a crime. This is stupid and you should feel bad for perpetuating this insanity.

She could probably afford to lose a few pounds

Plus sized, in Africa perhaps, but according to American women that plus sized model is skinny. people are complaining about it online but no one really listens to it in real life, because so many women in america are so large its impossible that it actually has an effect on women in regards to their eating habits because women in the usa have actually been getting bigger over the past 20 years.

Exactly. Ever notice that people who drink beer excessively have droopy tits, fat bellies, and no ass? She has exactly the same body as a compulsive beer drinker.

People judge each other quite harshly, why did it take the Shroomery to teach you such an obvious lesson?

And if your implication is to call me a "hater," please refer to my other post where I compared one good-looking woman against this monstrosity of a model: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/19409144#19409144

And, men judge other men just as harshly too. Refer to the "meat-eating" thread, where a picture of a vegan bodybuilder was posted, and tons of guys ripped on how small and frail of a body he had.

This.

Once you realize that every insult or put-down someone conjures up is a reflection of self-doubt, you realize that many folks aren't the big bad wolves they think they are.

I was taught this in the first hour of my first mushroom trip. How this idea is not uniformly recognized by this board is a complete mystery to me.

Well, to be fair, they also talk about how gorgeous and radiant and beautiful other people look too.

So I take it you prefer beer drinkers over athletic women?

Why do you call them "beer drinkers"?
And to answer your question, I find all of them attractive, the second last one is kind of large on the right hand side, which is odd as they are the same person, anyway I think she could lose some weight.
The guy is not bad too.

I call them beer-drinkers based on the typical body that a beer-drinker has. Loading of beer produces abdominal stretching and high estrogen levels, which produces enlarged breasts, protruding belly, and flat buttocks. Males above 40 years old who consume beer excessively have this body type as well.

Women who are "thick" but athletic, will usually have a small waist, or defined abs, with wide hips, and large quadriceps. The girl that is holding the tire balloon in the top picture looks thick but muscular, she looks between 20-25% body fat which is actually super fit considering how thick she is.

Lots of media brainwashed, shallow people in this thread.

That girl is definetely not plus sized, let alone fat.

The modeling industry is run by gay men who probably hate women and this skewed image of what is plus-sized supports what I just said.

In 10 more years they'll be saying Karen Carpenter needed to lose some weight.

Regardless of how fat you are or how you feel about it, that girl has excess fat around her mid-region. Which makes her fat!

I think that only thin or athletic people are the main people calling her fat. Which she is, according to the definition of fat.
But chubby or fat people are like, "Naw man, she ain't fat, she's just thick."

She is definitely fat. First of all, I'm saying this as a person who used to be an alcoholic and consume an excess of 5,000 calories per day.

A lot of fat people say, "Oh you're so lucky, you just have good genetics." But that's not actually true. This is a cop-out fat people say so that they don't have to eat healthy or work out. The truth is, if I don't work out and I consume an excess of 1400 calories, guess what, I get fucking fat! Hardly the "fast metabolism" people accuse me of having. I don't think people realize how little it takes for normal people to gain weight.

But, the reason that I say that she is fat, is because I used to be 135lbs of fat, back when I was a "beer-drinker" myself. Now I'm 135lbs of muscle. And let me tell you, 135lbs of fat looks VERY DIFFERENT from 135lbs of muscle.

Basically, at 135lbs of fat, I looked a lot like this girl on the left: http://i2.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article743701.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/Jennifer%2520Ellison's%2520post%2520baby%2520weight%2520loss-743701

Now, at 135lbs of muscle, I look like... well, you can just click on my gallery I guess.

Basically, it's a huge difference. Nobody is saying this model can't be 6 foot 2 and 180lbs, the truth is, she would probably be pretty attractive if those 180lbs were of muscle. But the truth is if you consider her body shape, she is definitely out of shape and has an excess amount of body fat.

There is a huge difference between a woman who weighs 140 and goes to the gym, lifts and squats.  Compared to a woman who is 140 that drinks and has an unhealthy diet. She obviously doesn't do much physical activity. Huge turn off.

Im all for plus sized women that are healthy. They are usually stunning. This woman is just chubby.

That's silly reasoning and illogical. I am hardly fat or chubby, if anything I am on the thin side, and I am quite athletic.
However I still disagree with you. Not everyone who disagrees with you is something you feel is derogatory (eg: everyone who disagrees with me is fat / chubby)...

You do realize that the whole "beer belly" thing is a myth right? You should fact what you believe. It's quite true that alcohol has tons of calories, but it doesn't cause this mysterious "beer belly" - excess calories (primarily unless the person has an underlying condition) causes it which could be from any number of foods / beverages.

And I don't even like beer.

I call them beer-drinkers based on the typical body that a beer-drinker has. Males above 40 years old who consume beer excessively have this body type as well.

That is true. It could be from soda. It could be from junk food. For me, weed, opiates, and beer causes it. It's not even the calories in beer that causes it, it's the extreme hunger and munchies I get afterward. I would eat like a 2-3k calorie meal while high on those, and then fall asleep right after. And that's what causes the "beer belly" look with me. You would be surprised at how big a belly can get on a 135lb 5'5" woman. And now I'm the exact same weight, but I don't have a belly at all, it's all muscle. It's quite amazing how 135lbs of fat looks from 135lbs of muscle.

Well, it's both. People who drink beer excessively almost always have that body, but it probably comes from excess calories due to the beer consumption.

The phytoestrogens that are in beer however, do definitely contribute to enlarged breast syndrome.

Do you have a source for that?  It's not mentioned anywhere in the Wikipedia article about phytoestrogens.  It looks like there are some studies that indicate they can decrease the risk for several types of cancer including breast cancer.

It has long been known for years that phytoestrogens exist in tofu, but recently they have also been finding that phytoestrogens exist in high concentrations in beer, wine, and nuts as well:

The whole phytoestrogen being bad and causing boobs is based on a misunderstanding of what phytoestrogen is and how it differs from estrogen.. It's the silly argument people have raised against soy products that has been debunked numerous times.

Care to elaborate? I mean I personally don't avoid phytoestrogens, I love nuts and tofu, as they are both high sources of protein. But I'm pretty certain that the reason Japanese men have been documented to have higher female hormone levels is basically because of high tofu and miso and soybean consumption.

I was not questioning whether phytoestrogens exist in beer, I was questioning that they have the effects you listed.

Clinical studies show no effects of soy protein or isoflavones on reproductive hormones in men: results of a meta-analysis:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19524224

Dietary soy protein containing isoflavonoids does not adversely affect the reproductive tract of male cynomolgus macaques (Macaca fascicularis):

Phytoestrogens have cancer-protective properties:

A simple pubmed search always brings up troves in info..

Now I have a bunch more info that counteracts your studies. These specifically studied the population of Japanese men though, as they are known to consume high amounts of soy quite frequently:

The first study you linked to is quite outdated compared with what I linked to and relies heavily on correlation, and we all know that correlation != causation.
The general consensus among scientists is that soy products (and phytoestrogen in food) is safe.

The second one has nothing to do with excess estrogen causing boobs and similar but with gastrointestinal cancer.

Yes, I posted that one because you mentioned phytoestrogens have cancer-protective properties, but it actually depends on what type of cancer and whether the soy is fermented or not.

But, I will also relay my personal experience with tofu... and that is when I had acne when I was younger, eating a lot of tofu all the time seemed to make my acne disappear temporarily. When I stopped eating tofu, it would come back with a vengeance. Now how could it do that unless it was altering my hormone levels in some subtle way? Everybody knows that dermatologists prescribe birth control pills to clear up the skin, because estrogen causes clear skin.

(The only thing that ended up working for my acne was BC pills + a regiment of spironolactone, a testosterone suppressor btw. Yea I was suffering from excess testosterone, big surprise lol)

Alcohol having negative effects on appeeaeance is well known. Not just the phyto estrogens if those are bad. Which I remember the claim being weed caused estrogen production because of the phyto estrogens. The studies were faulty with zero evidence and turned out to be propoganda.

I noticed a huge difference in looks and feels when I quit drinking.

The whole point is this girl needs to go to the fucking gym.

Correlation is not causation.. There are so many other reasons why tofu could have helped your skin.

Well for the type of acne I had, cystic acne, only two things helped it. That was antibiotics and estrogen hormones. Anti histamines and anti inflammatories didn't help my type of acne. As far as I know, tofu has no antibiotic properties. It does however, have phytoestrogens.
