Reiteration of the Rules 3

We have been experiencing some disruption as of late. I would like to remind all posters that this board is not The Pub.
Quote:
The forum moderators try to be as relaxed with the rules as possible. For example we won't bust your balls for getting a little off topic and joking around.
There has been some liberty taking recently and it is going to stop. That said, the above will still stand. A bit of banter harms no one if we keep it civil and friendly, and is good for friendship and community.
But keep in mind, the first rule:
Quote:
- Stay on topics related to the gardening and growing of ethnobotanicals/entheobotanicals.
Any off topic/banter/troll first post, will be deleted or moved.
These two need to be brought to attention also:
Quote:
- If you see anything on here that breaks the rules PLEASE use the notify a mod button: and someone will come by and fix it.
- Last but not least. If you have a problem with a forum moderator editing your post, kindly send them a PM, do not bitch and complain or question their actions in the thread concerned. It will be considered an off topic response and likely result in a further edit and an official warning being issued to you.
Some posters may present their info in an abrasive style. The nature of the beast. We all have our own oddities Keep any replies to the content of the posts relevant to the first rule, and do not engage in personalisms/ad hominem etc. If you feel you are being trolled at all, contact a mod. Do not respond in kind, you will only dig your own hole. You will be held responsible for your own actions/reactions regardless of perceived provocation.
Let us work together to keep this place vibrant!
& to all

I have become increasingly frustrated with the way this forum has degenerated over the past few months and the the inability of the mods to deal with certain people which then forces some of us to try and tackle the issue ourselves. As we have noticed some times you can get a bit to engrossed in your mission and things get a bit out of hand and while the original problem is still here others are having a holiday.
I would like to say on a positive note that the mods here do a very good job in my opinion and probably don't get enough thanks from us for doing a sometimes difficult job. I am also not blaming The EG Mod's for the way things have gone here as I understand the forum as a whole has rules and guidelines that they need to follow so there hands are tied to some extent.
I can understand that we are all different not only from different parts of the world but each person is different in the way we post and more than likely different in the real world in how we deal with people. I have and do deal with many different people every day. Some can be very abrupt and straight to the point some can be always right and and many variations in between.
Then there are those that are rude, condescending and aggressive. I wont put up with people like this in my work or personal life so I certainly wont put up with it here. If the posts continue from certain parties with this sort of attitude attacking members here about their level of expertise and the way that they go about there gardening I cannot see myself spending to much time here in the future.
I truly hope that things get sorted out here as I have enjoyed my time here as this place has some great friendly growers and info and is a refreshing change from the couple of other places that I visit.
Cheers Got

Don't ever feel like your opinions aren't taken on board. If you have an issue with things here then PM one of the mods and discuss.
The garden has always been quite good with self regulation, members here will speak up if things aren't right. I've always liked this as it keeps it somewhat a community. The events of the last few weeks were allowed to go on with a little hope everyone would find a balance, and work with each other, or not.
Sometimes giving people too much rope enables them to hang themselves. We're starting to see that now.
From now on, no more rope, the moderators will be enforcing the rules for everyone that posts here.

What do youmean you're not blaming the mods? Blaming them for what? They were very lenient towards your boy. That guy plastered this board with complete nonsense for the past few weeks. Atleast Anne does her thing and then shuts up.
You guys are getting bent out of shape by some woman who can't even form a complete sentence. Have you read her blog???? Why do you let someone like that effect you?

Thats not what is being said. This is being said about everybody. Just mind your manners and follow the rules. Simple as that. We are not talking about one person but I think thT instead of ignoring said problem people went along with it and gave in. I sais what I said and in the end I put said proble on my ignore list. Less aggravation all around. This place is my internet home. I have no other place where I havle made such good friends and gotten such thought out information from people. I came when I knew nothi g and now I feel like a knowledgeable member all thanks to the now mods. I was here when they were like me and now they have been given the daunting task of taking care of us here and moderating the place.
That being said I think this thread should be locked. I think people should get the hint now these mods aint gonna fuck around anymore. Sorry for my language.

I don't have a "boy" As I said some took it upon themselves to try and deal with the issue and someone went to far but my issue is not with what transpired in the last few days but with what has happened here over the last few months. On the original issue
Quote:
Then there are those that are rude, condescending and aggressive. I wont put up with people like this in my work or personal life so I certainly wont put up with it here.
Most Forums removed the offending problem completely. This forum ( the shroomery ) has a different system of banning people and there was a discussion recently on making it less likely for some one to be given a permanent ban.
Quote:
Any user who violates site or specific forum policy, including those who ignore personal direction given to them by a moderator/administrator, will be banned according to the following guidelines. While we will do our best to be fair, we do reserve the right to ban anyone for any reason:
A first offense for minor infractions will result in a written warning by moderator/administrator either via Private Message, or in the thread where the incident occurred. Immediate bans are often issued without warning in circumstances involving SPAM, explicitly illegal activity, excessive harassment, or any behavior deemed malicious. Upon second offense, the user will receive a temporary ban of anywhere from 1-15 days with a brief explanation of the reason behind the ban and the duration of the ban. Repeat offenders who continue to violate policy and/or administrative direction, will be permanently banned. Every user may contest their ban through our Support System. Please include any and all relevant information and links where applicable. While we reserve the right to allow certain users readmittance, do not expect to be given a second chance if you have been perm banned.
Cheers Got

im anne halonium, some know me , some dont.
im simple. i present novel teks for cacti and fungi. my grow, my pics, my basic details, as it happened.
i take a very "county fair ' approach.
i realize my work is outside the standard paradigm. thats the point. there plenty of peeps here already presenting the traditional grow. i present my experiments for educational value beyond the norm.
i am for the cactus grow, no matter what style, my basic message is, " we need more cacti, not less" therefore, i present my teks, as a option for consideration.
as for" other forums" as goonthen mentioned, most of em are dead malls now . they failed to deal with trollery, and are no longer grow relevant. shroomery , handles its cacti forum differntly indeed. therfore, many of the surviors of last yrs multi forum collapses are here.
so, ya, im anne halonium, some like me some dont. not here to disrupt , im here to offer new things. when the haters outnumber the lovers, ill quit.
its that simple.

Like ferrel said, I consider this place my home too. I don't visit any other site more frequently than here and EG is my home inside my home. The quality of posts/threads in this forum has gone downhill in the past few weeks/months and I think it can fairly be blamed on one sole poster whose name I'll refrain from mentioning.
As much as I'd like to do what ferrel suggests by ignoring this person, I feel it's my duty (or rather our) duty to counter the spread of blatant misinformation when we see it posted here or elsewhere. We have to remember all of these posts are archived and anybody in the future can read them. I don't want future growers to stumble upon a thread thinking it's full of solid factual information when in reality it's nothing but garbage.
I'll be continuing to do my part on correcting misinfo when I spot it, but it will be done in a civil manner consistent with the rules outlined for this subforum. Let's get back on track as best as we can as a community to making this place everything it can and should be. For our sake and the sake of those who will be here after us.

The mods are doing a great job of keeping EG an awesome place. Too many other forums on the Shroomery are plagued with trolls and blatant off-topic "flame" posts, it's really getting out of hand. It's very refreshing to come in here and always see relevant threads with great information. Keep up the good work

I don't get it man... Dude is fuckin weird. He gets banned, and then comes right back under a different username?
All because he made a joke, it went too long, he "couldn't stop" for some reason, and now is just super oddly obsessed with it?
Enough is enough man...

That theory is weird enough that it just might be true. It would certainly explain quite a few things.

I think the moderation has been spot on for the few weeks I've been here. It certainly is not what I would like it to be, but not that far off that I feel it's biased. That's one definition of "fair" I can live with. Carry on, guys (and gals).
