Treat others how you want to be treated or . . . .
    #19401965 - 01/11/14 12:53 AM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Treat others how they treat you.

Which one do you think is more adequate and why?

Do what you want each moment would be my choice.

Certainly the first, because it yields greater benefit to people as a whole.  This assume that you want to be treated well, but receive mixed treatment from others...I imagine one day it won't be a meaningful distinction because everyone will treat each other well and we'll all live in blissful harmony. :nyan:

If you treat others how they treat you, that wouldn't be very productive.

:satansmoking:

I think this looks good on paper but in reality I don't know how much. I mean who is really gonna keep loaning stuff to someone who never returns it? Are you supposed to be a sucker like 3 because you would want someone to let you borrow stuff even if you know they aren't going to return it?

Who would really just stand there and get beat up without trying to defend themselves? It seems like it could be an exploitable weakness.

Those who don't subscribe to the philosophy would be at an advantage, because they can take advantage of those who do, and in turn become much more wealth and have more power and say in how the world is run.

it is even worse .. all this religious ramblings if you take time to look at it you would see how it all mean evil powers consciously

being like what others look being with you ??? it is clearly all to fake life forces ..

while being conscious is for conscious being true .. for freedom to be out positive source really out of any right self being

while doing what others seem to mean doing, is to get stuck with others to justify itself result out ... and keep rambling blablabla about nothing real ... endlessly
but mostly it is about to never be in relation with objective facts .. keep it subjective for gods and powers over the grounds getting all positive objective existence ends

like now.. hearing all over.. we are one all for god .. what crap ..
when god by definition has already everything how such a negative life mess of being positive is also for him ??

no others cant be part of any self

we are as selves determined by everything .. what we do don't make us what we are .. what we are is the end of what we do for everything and out from it live

it looks like what you are saying is from what you recall being god.. powerful evil entity able to mess with existence facts and force fake things out of creations life to be conscious
but then you are all that god like you think, and not what others selves are or any true self being

anyways, true self or self being is by definition unique value .. any self being true .. so others cant be because of it on the contrary ... true self beings are free ... and freedom is nothing objectively and is never a source of else or others freedoms

while only objective positive value is a reason of free wills

So when you gave me a zero rating last night, you must have really wanted one for yourself, because you want to treat others how you want to be treated....

Well sorry, no zero rating for you :sorry:.

Everything is better than it was the last time.  I'm good.

If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care.

It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence.

I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too.  If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.

Yeah...this is part of why I believe neither option is ideal.  There are many other ways to approach ethics!  I believe a better approach is to act so as to maximize the benefit for everyone involved.  This is much more complex than simply treating others as one would like to be treated or as they treat you; it requires that one consider the many effects that various actions might have on oneself and a potentially vast set of others.

What I like about this approach is that I can apply to just about any action I might take, that it always leads to genuine attempts to do good, and that it often leads to good actions; when it fails to produce a good action, it at least leads to a learning experience.  It also avoids the pitfalls of "treat others as you would have them treat you" and other simplistic approaches to ethics in human interaction.  If somebody is trying to kill me for no good reason, I would try to stop them with violence with no contradiction to my ethics! :nyan:

So you're more concerned with intent or motive rather than the outcome?

It is kind of impossible to determine the outcome of every situation further then the most immediate future.

I think if someone was even trying to kill you for a good reason you would still try to stop them.
