What is the first tek that you succeeded with?

I have been browsing around the forums and see a lot of teks to follow in growing mushrooms, and I'm curious which tek's you guys have used that was successful for your first grow?
Like what kind of fruiting chamber, incubator, substrate and casing stuff did you use?
Should i start out with the simplets one or should I go for the gold? Have there been a lot of people who done the big tubs for their first grows with success?
I'm curious about your experiences and what worked best, and if I should try to skip the noob level or go ahead and start there?
Ok thanks.

The first tek I used was Bulk Psilocybe Cubensis growing for noobs -Very easy TEK by m00nshine. its like 4 years old but it was very easy to follow and worked well for me. it also gives the option of using BRF cakes or grain for spawn, depending what you feel more comfortable with. If you have a PC I would recommend grains.

Evilmushroom has a great tek simple. FOLLOW EVERY INSTRUCTION. DO NOT DEVIATE. Then when you have a grow under your belt you will see exactly how strong mycellium is and sometimes how fragile it can be. Its a fun and rewarding hobby. I live near Seattle and we have so many shrooms its crazy.

Spend the ten bucks for the download. Its worth it.
I started with PF tek. And then went to monotubs. After that was Spongi Blocks. And now I spawn to invitro bags almost exclusively.
Its hard to screw up PF tek. But after that, play with a few other methods until you find something that works well for you.

If given the option I would start using agar and doing whole grains right off the bat. Then you can avoid buying overpriced syringes and dealing with contaminated spores. If there's one thing that'll turn someone away from this hobby it's going through loads of work and time to find nothing but mold growing due to a crappy spore vendor or because you simply can't produce consistently clean spore syringes.

I went strait to grains and mono's. Do it, you'll love it. After one decent little mono, and 2 half finished 66 quart monos I was forced to take a break, but now I'm back and I've since made myself a kickass greenhouse. I'd suggest starting with monos and if you like it consider making a greenhouse for serious production and moving into panaeolus territory.

get a PC, the biggest 15psi you can get for the money you got its your most important tool
Start with WBS and coir (coir is cheap at garden/grow shops for weed)
should yield plenty in a monotub (plastic storage box with 4 sub level holes and 2 holes in top rear ends)
monotubs maintain themselves
do Damiens coir tek, then you can pasteurize in a bucket
the only work is making 4-6 quarts of WBS and making the lids in the jars (polyfill is fine, but else polyfill+tyvek)
yield will be more than you can eat in a year likely

Bird Seed----> Coco Coir, Vermiculite, Gypsum-----> 6 Quart Plastic Trays.
I harvested over 1/4 lb dry on my first project years ago. Now I would recommend rye berries over the wild bird seed, I also now add chicken manure to the bulk substrate.

my first tek was pftek and mushroomvideos.com , great success - plenty for a year
no problems when following the videos and tek
although I did use drinking glasses instead of pfjars, they seemed to yield even better than pfjars (found the info on youtube) drinking glasses + 2 layers alufoil, remove one to innoc longer colonization time, but larger yield, with minimum early pinning
SGFC was made like in the videos, worked great great for fruiting anything in, at any time, 3-4" perlite in the bottom you can fruit bags in it, drinking glass cakes, pfcakes etc.
downside with pftek: lots of time used on misting and fanning 3-4+ times everyday benefits: beautiful shrooms everyday you can look at and eat when you want and very potent usually... bulk is sometimes not as potent due to larger shrooms
real downside with pftek: finding all the needed stuff... verm, perlite, BRF! ... very hard/impossible to find often(unless you can use a shroomery sponsor!) WBS(bulk) you can find in your supermarket, any supermarket! coir you can find most garden sections / many places too... much easier to find
benefit with monotub/bulk: much larger yield usually disadvantage bulk: you only get to see your fruits when you harvest, so only 1 day a month maybe , instead of everyday and not as guaranteed as pftek with pftek and 10 cakes, one is almost guaranteed fruits with bulk your whole tub can die so you dont get any fruits(unlikely if you follow tek, coir and wbs is easy), if that happens you lost a months hard work likely
