How to speed up the cleansing of lungs process after quitting smoking
    #19404124 - 01/11/14 02:26 PM (10 years, 19 days ago)

So, a while back I had quit smoking cigarettes for about 2 weeks and during those 2 weeks, I went to the gym and used the treadmill for about 25 to 30 minutes probably 4 or 5 days a week. But the key to running is not just to run, but how you run. You've probably already heard about this before.

When you run, you have to avoid landing on the heel of your foot, so you land on the "palm" of your feet and toes. Not only is it easier to run this way, but it decreases the damage done to your heels from landing on them, as well as gives your calf muscles a damn good workout.

Also, when you're doing this running (it's better to use a treadmill if you use this running technique) you should take as deep breaths as possible through your nose and exhale out your mouth.

One strange thing I noticed throughout this process was that I would have a somewhat scary cough. The coughing was loud. Not a constant cough like a flu/cold cough, but more like a "here it comes" kinda cough. Usually I would cough up black stuff, probably the tar from cigarettes.

I thought this was out of the ordinary so I looked it up on google and I read somewhere that this is the cilia removing the tar from my lungs, which can actually cause coughing. The whole point of this is to convey the message that if you wish for your lungs to heal quickly in a short amount of time and remove tar, dust, etc, you should take this running technique into consideration. Peace.
