"Freedom Isn't Free" is only half correct. True freedom doesn't exist in the society we exist in. What the saying really means is "The Illusion of Freedom Isn't Free"

SG3 has its antenna in the bottom, so you have to hold it on the sides if you want to call in bad signal areas often
if you hold in the bottom, no signal, no phone signal - no 3g signal or only 1 bar signal
if you hold on the sides you get 2-3 extra bars

again, I have an S3 and I'm not experiencing the problems you're reporting

old nokias dont, they often have the antenna in the top iirc.. much better signal quality usually

old nokias dont surf the web

IOS does the same is not a good argument for selling out your freedom ;-)

its like saying, windows controls me but does what I want to do most of the time, so there is no reason to use linux to be fully free

SG3 has its antenna in the bottom, so you have to hold it on the sides if you want to call in bad signal areas often
if you hold in the bottom, no signal, no phone signal - no 3g signal or only 1 bar signal
if you hold on the sides you get 2-3 extra bars

iphones have that issue too

old nokias dont, they often have the antenna in the top iirc.. much better signal quality usually

but I could still call in most areas with my SG3, nokia just has better signal quality always as a phone

its a tradeof, do you want a smartphone or just a phone for phone stuff that does that well?
a pda is not a good phone necessarily, but it will do phone stuff reasonably well and better in some cases

being able to google find a number is often useful on a smartphone, old nokias cant do that
... but you are out of battery anyway always with a SG3 unless you carry your charger, so google wont be possible ;-)

*** btw if you use a case with your SG3 you wont have the same antenna issues likely
since then you wont interfere with the signal by holding in the bottom, the casing protects the signal I heard... but dunno
signal isnt too good, but its useable except no 3g in many buildings, where HTC has 4 bars signal right next to me... htc desire
3g is almost useless in many places, bad 3g conn

I often only get GPRS signal where people with HTC and same subscription(ISP) get 4 out of 5 bars 3g signal
GPRS is useless for surfing/doing stuff on the net, and even the GPRS conn is unreliable inside buildings often

maybe early SG3 model... but google says I am not alone

And what alternative to android is "truly free" as a mobile computing os? Seems like android's freer then windows or ios.

in the future it will be possible to install ubuntu on your phone I heard, but until then you can root it and delete the samsung crap if you want, so it doesnt modify your phone without your agreement in the background any longer

Meh.  Nexus 5 FTW if you're going to go Android.  I bet the GS5 is going to be like 5.5" screen.  That is just absurd and uncomfortable to use.
