I just read this whole thread. Jimmy, you owe me like 30 min of my life back. Your argument is ridiculous, and your posts are barely coherent (yet, we the meat eaters are ignorant).

Meat is delicious. And to get the nutrients directly from meat, rather than in supplements, is better for you.

Most importantly, you kill plants in order to eat them too, you unfeeling bastard.

Nutrients Potentially Missing On A Vegan Diet

Vitamin A: The “direct” form is only found in animal products -meat, egg yolks, dairy (though much less so than meat) and fish. The vitamin A found in orange and green vegetables is beta carotene which the body must first convert to the usable form of Vitamin A.  That conversion requires bile salts, which are produced by your liver when you consume fat (making fat essential on a vegan diet). So yes, you can obtain a version of Vitamin A in plants, but you’ll need about 6x as much beta cartonene to equal the amount found in direct Vitamin A.

B12:  This is the nutrient which vegans can potentially become deficient as you can only get naturally occurring B12 from animal products. (There are eight different B vitamins and our body needs them all).  It can take time for the implications of low B12 to show up, with anemia being the most common outcome of very low levels.

Vitamin D: This is another one found only in animal products. Cod liver oil is super high in it, as is shrimp, wild salmon, sardines, full-fat dairy products, and egg yolks. Yes you can get it from the sun, but most of us don’t spend 15 minutes a day, flesh exposed, palms open. Furthermore, the darker your skin, the less D your body will produce.

Protein: You can get some of the components of protein (the amino acids) from legumes, seeds and grain, but meat and fish contain complete protein (meaning they have all the essential amino acids). The amino acids in meat/fish are also in a form that is very easy for most people to digest. Many people find grains and legumes (which contain digestive inhibitors) quite hard to digest. Note too how little meat you actually need to get protein – 4 oz of beef provides 30 grams protein; salmon 25 grams; tofu 8 grams.

Zinc: Red meat is high in it and it comes in a form that many believe is easier for the body to break down than that found in grains and legumes.

Exactly,
I have no problems with vegetarians, I just have trouble with the whole cult-like pressure that some vegetarians pull on other people.
OP Jimmy, right now you're giving vegetarians a bad name, and if you're a troll - good job because it's working on most of shroomery.
If you feel as strongly as you seem to, I appreciate your passion for this subject, but please - educate yourself a little more. You would be taken a lot more seriously, and could potentially change some people's minds if you knew a little more about what you're talking about here. Just saying..
You're like the people who give Christians and Mormons a bad name because you're trying to force it on other people, with a lack of scientific evidence on your side. Simple observations don't really cut it in the scientific world.
With that being said, time to cook me up some chicken sausage. :feelsgoodman:

Well what do you know???? Lol this is great.

B-12 is essential for metabolism and energy production.

D is has been shown to help with healthy testosterone levels.

These are essential in any body builders system.

B12: Unfortunately B12 is not available in plant form.  Spirulina and other sea vegetables, are considered by some to be good sources, but whether that form of B12 can be assimilated into the body, is under dispute.

Apparently monkeys do consume animal products, but they usually consume oysters and clams, not meat. Seafood is healthy, meat not necessarily so.

It's doable. Some bodybuilders are vegan/vegetarian and a lot bigger than the average looking dude posted earlier.

I'm not saying they do it because it's healthier, but if you consider what we've been eating the most and the longest, our bodies are evolutionary built to consume those.

The reason meat isn't healthy is because of higher fat content, higher calories, and also because meat is higher in omega 3's whereas seafood is higher in omega 6's, and the ratio of omega 3's to 6's needs to be 1:3.

I still do eat meat, btw.

Pretty much this. Yes it can be done right but it requires research and planning. Just don't argue that we are "naturally" supposed to be vegans, it's just not true no matter what our teeth look like. Animal foods provide a ready source of various things we need and our ancestors were obviously taking advantage of this for quite some time. We are not adapted to a purely plant based diet as a species, but with planning we can formulate a plant based diet that meets our needs reasonably well. It's just a question of whether the trade-offs involved are worth it to you personally.
