Are these jars okay to inoculate? 1

Hi Shroomery,
So I just got a new pressure cooker (Presto 6-quart) and I pc'd 5 jars @ 15psi for 2 hours. I let them set overnight and this morning I opened it to take a look at the jars. All of them were burned at the bottom. I put the jars on a rack and water was touching the jars just a little bit. I was also wondering if this color is how it's supposed to look after pressure cooking. The substrate also looks a bit cooked. Thanks.
Here are some pictures:

I would toss 'em and start over before you get too far along and realize its all been a waste. Start off on the right foot and if you encounter problems, it will be easier to identify where they came from and to prevent in the future... Start off with a few inches of h2o up the jars so that you have enough to run through a 90 min cycle with your pc... The displacement of h2o by the jars sitting in the pc makes it look like there is much more h2o in there than there actually is...

Alright I'll redo them. I just finished emptying out the jars and saw that it was compressed a bit. I'm assuming that it was from the 2 hour pressure cooking lol.

stick with 90 minutes make sure there's plenty o' h2o... compressed is no bueno and the moisture content surely is compromised at this point...can you get your hands on the 1/2 pint wide mouth (short jars) they'll do better for ya with pf tek...

Yeah, they're toast.
2 hours of PC'ing is definitely not necessary. If 60 minutes of steaming can do it, then 60 minutes of PC can do it better, especially at 15 psi. 2 hours at 15psi for regular PF jars IS OVERKILL.
It might be even possible to do like 40-50 mins of PC for PF cakes, but no research has been done on the subject.
Start over and do 60 min PC. And put as much water as possible. Short jars will also let you put more "raisers" inside the PC to get your jars off the bottom, so you can put more water (as much as possible), and they colonize a lot faster than full pints.
The worst thing you can do is run out of water, PCing or boiling. Its worst for PC cause you cant even add water (its under pressure). In a boil setting, you can add water as needed, and add time to the "sanitize" process.

I know that they are available online. I tried Walmart but they only have the 1/2 pint regular ones.

Yeah, re-do everything, and check your PC for warping. If you ran out of water, chances are you warped your PC or at least fucked up the gasket.

I know most larger supermarkets have them in their "container" aisle, like with all the tupperware stuff.
Walmart, Kmart, etc. I dont know where you live, but if you're in the US, try any typical supermarket "one stop shop". Safeway might even have some.
If you cannot find any, sometimes jelly is sold in 1/2 pints, but they are kinda expensive because they are organic or handmade or whatever. Go to a natural foods store and check out the jellies. I know, it will be expensive, but if you want them right now, you could do that.
Lastly, if you have open markets, where they sell fresh produce (usually only on Saturdays), some people sell honey or jelly in those mini jars.

Actually, most places don't have the proper 1/2 pint jars anymore. The only place I know of that reliably has them just about everywhere is Ace Hardware.

There should be at least a half inch or so left inside. If there's like a tiny amount, then you need more water. But since you did 2 hours, you could easily make the min 60mins.
How about any natural food stores? Do you have any there? They have some wide mouth half pints sold in jelly jars. Or you could eBay it.
Found this eBay listing, and its flippin' expedited! Takes like only 4 days man! Worth it in my opinion.
And its nice to have lots of extras cause they come in real handy for making spore prints. I print them right into the jar and use it for my next syringe. The jar is very useful.
