Layering vs Mixing Spawn

Hey guys
I have come to the conclusion that layering spawn (for oyster mushrooms at least) is far superior to mixing spawn in.
It does make some sense in the fact that by layering it you end up with large masses of mycelium that act as an energy/food store for the advancing hyphae. Effectively allowing it to powerhouse through areas of substrate that would otherwise be a bit inhospitable.
The bags that I mixed have succumbed to some kind of green mold (I don't think it is trichoderma, could be penicillin sp. etc) and they have not colonized as thoroughly as the 2 bags that were layered. The bag with the thickest layers was in fact that bag that colonized the best.
Spawn volume and substrate volume of the bags was very similar. Not exact but close enough to be fairly irrelevant. I will be doing further tests more accurately after these preliminary results.
All bags were spawned at the same time and have been kept in the exact same conditions. Substrate mixes and spawn mixes were also exactly the same as was water content and the area that bags were spawned in. The only discernible difference is the layering vs mixing. Even the genetics are exactly the same as it IS an isolate.
Would love to hear if anyone else has experienced similar or has some counter evidence. Not sure if it is the same for other species of mushrooms but for this particular oyster it seems to perform SUBSTANTIALLY better in a layered spawn bag vs a mixed spawn bag.
Cheers guys

do not want to vote as i've only layered with oysters and only grown them 3 times (4th time colonizing now). i only used straw, no supplements, 2 hour soak with dish detergent and lime, then 170 past. for 1 hour ten minutes. layered in newspaper bags. i would have mixed, but with straw...i don't know how i could do it without being messy. my roommate already got mad cause straw is EVERYWHERE in apt. in the kitchen (from past.) on every floor of apt (from cutting it up a bit messy and pets playing with it) and bathroom (from draining it after past.) so i didn't even try mixing it when ready to spawn.
were the bags themselves all prepped same way, like x's or holes in them all through during colonization after spawning? or were they colonizing in different humidities or temps? what was ur past. method?
im interested to see results/reactions as well
with cubes i mix, but coir/hpoo a lot easier to mix up then straw.

All bags were treated exactly the same way. All conditions were exactly the same as well.
No holes dont add them until I fruit them
Now i KNOW im going to cop shit for this but the method of pasturisation was the microwave. All same time. All substrates were prepped the same way etc. The microwave is NOT the issue at all before people jump in say "You cant do that. That wont work" Well it does work.
But that is irrelevant
Mixing straw up is a mega pain in the ass. But seeing as it is always suggested/practiced with psilos i thought it would be worth a try with the oysters too. Not impressed with the results.
And the colonisation time is not as fast either.
My next test is to try layering vs mixing with psilos and other species too
If you wish to vote you can check the "I have never compared" box. cause it is interesting to see how many people have and have not compared too.
