Storing sclerotia as tea or lemon tek?

Hi all,
I have 100g of fresh Tampanensis truffles/sclerotia and I would like to store it for several months. Reading the forum seems like everyone has his own version of storing (drying, grinding, frozen tea...) so I want to be sure to do the right thing.
Can I make tea (with some lemon maybe) and freeze it? The idea is to store in doses of maybe 5g, what can I use? Plastic glasses are ok for storing tea in the freezer?
If I try to dry them and grind, how can I store the powder?
Thanks a lot.

Use any kind of sealed container.
I would store powder in a ziplock bag with some desiccant saches thrown in

Get an air tight glass jar. Then get some desiccant. Then remove tea from a tea bag, put desiccant inside, tape tea bag back up. Put desiccant filles tea bag and truffles in jar. Put jar in refridgerator.

do dehydrators not work well on sclerotia or something? Why not use that to dry it?

Thanks for the answers. I'll do some tests and maybe I'll report back in a couple of weeks/months.

They'll keep for a few days in a brown paper bag in the refrigerator, but after that they'll be drying out. In fact that's one of the better ways to dry them for long term storage. RR

So dehydrators are a no go with sclerotia then? I only wonder cause I have about 40 pounds of spawn that I just inoculated with galindoi spores so drying all that in the refrigerator may be difficult.

I dunno where drying and the fridge comes into it but dry it like you would dry anything

most kitchen fridges have built in dehumidifiers in the freezer to prevent frost buildup. This is what would help the drying process. I should work fine, right?
You can see this if you ever leave cheese or meat unsealed in there. It will dry out.

I was just thinking the easiest way would be a paper bag in the refrigerator. If you got weight, (standard methods) dehydrators/fans work well too, followed by a desiccant chamber. You just gotta make sure your dry them fast and dry them well. I would dry them like thishttp://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/15371036/fpart/1/vc/1with the screeen and fan and then into the desiccant chamber.
There's some more discussion in this thread http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/15032700. They were also discussing frozen sclerotia tea if op is interested.

I do not dry truffles, or rather only did it once for some experimenters. I was told and read that it made them a bit difficult to eat. If they are properly dry, as they should always be if dried at all, they can be ground and mixed into many things. The flavors after dried are greatly changed - just as many seem to think they taste more tolerable after drying as think they taste more unpleasant.
DO NOT FREEZE FRESH SCLEROTIA! They can be kept in a refrigerator for at least a month with no apparent quality loss. They likely can go longer if stored properly with no extra water present upon enclosing. If they so happen to fuzz white a bit, it's okay, rolling them around a bit will clear that up.
Typical dehydrating methods work well for truffles. Dry them completely and thoroughly! They will keep indefinitely in airtight containers especially with a food-safe desiccant package tossed in. Will keep practically forever freeze-dried (may be minuscule exaggeration).

lol, you obviously know enough about fridges to shoot down that theory. NOT

haha I guess dehumidifier was not accurate. They have auto-defrost, which dries out the air inside there quite a bit. Unless you have a specialty (laboratory) freezer, it likely has this feature. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auto-defrost
Back on topic, I think alabama is right and using a classic dehydrator is a good way to go.

yes cold air will take moisture from your fruits, it's actually a good method to get the last of the moisture out of a few fruits after fan drying

I'm not shooting down any theory balzer old pal don't be so defensive
Just putting out there that refrigeration devices ain't universal. I feel like committing hara-kiri pointing this out as it is so dull but there you go
