All my best friends are in relationships

And good for them. But it gets to me on nights like tonight, when they're all doing their own thing with their partner and I want to socialise but have no one to socialise with!
I figure I need a girlfriend or more single friends. Such a silly problem really but I get lonely when I see nobody except my housemates for the whole weekend, and they don't pretend to ever be more than mildly interested in me.
I'll find things to do, that's not a problem I guess. But i want peoples to validate my stupid existence

Go to some local music shows. When I go to see lesser known artists that I really like I tend to run into people with similar interests to me.
Also local music festivals with camping are another great place to meet tons of people. Look to see if there's a bar that has fire spinning or a drum circle on certain nights.
I don't know what you're into, but these are all places where I tend to meet some of the more interesting people...

I've been in a similar situation lately.
So I became good friends with Jack Daniels and Jim Beam.
They're always ready to throw down.

I hear ya brother. It's always hard to be alone for an extended time. Especially when you know all of your friends are out enjoying themselves on the town...
Waiting in traffic. Sizing up other strangers who are sizing up them. Listening to their girlfriends bitch. Paying for overpriced drinks and food...
One can only dream...
Meanwhile, us poor fellows are in our dark rooms staring at computer screens. Stoned. Jerking off to 18 year old double team co-eds and deep anal divas 3. Eating cold pasta.
Oh well, there's always tomorrow to think about and all the possibilities that await us.
And if that doesn't pan out, there's always heroin.

Yeah I'm in to all of those things. It's a confidence thing, I'm too shy to go to a bar by myself, or a gig. If there was a gig I was really keen for I'd go but there's not tonight, at least not a cheap one. Camping festivals are the shit, really! There's one next weekend I might go to and one the week after I'm definitely going to. Yeah I do need to meet some more people... I guess the problem is there's only a handful of people I'll usually call/text to hang out and they're often doing their own thing coz of relationships

I'm also 22. It's not easy in the beginning, but you just have to ignore the inhibitions that are keeping you in your shell, and get out there.
Not everyone you meet will be the coolest person ever; but you'll find yourself in multiple circles of friends where there's always a variety of things happening.
If you go to local music shows often enough you'll start to recognize faces and remember names. Booze can be a great courage serum
Also, try not smoking any herb before going out.

If it wasn't so late already I'd go down to the chemist, get some get some codeine/paracetamol and do a cwe.
But it's probably a good thing it's too late. And I've seen heroin completely take over people who were lonely or depressed when they started using. They've since just dropped off the face of the earth.

Unless you are a hipster going to local shows is pointless. At least that is the state of the local scene here.

Yeah I wouldn't get stoned before doing that. You're right I've just got to go. I should look in to more local gigs when I have free nights, like in advance since I always leave things too late like tonight and then I'm stuck at home again. The main thing I have trouble with when meeting new people is what to talk about. Of course practise and alcohol help that but I still feel like I'm pretty shit in that aspect.

Yes it's similar here except there's a lot of good hipster-free edm gigs. I've just got to suss more of them out!
I went to a gig on Monday with a free ticket because my friend's girlfriend was sick and the crowd there were just awful. The venue was packed too!
Judgemental I know, but they were mostly rude and superficial. At least the people I had interacted with

So am I too. I'm assuming you're Australian, given your ability to buy codeine and your use of the words 'housemates', 'holidays' and 'keen'.

Dude just make new social connections with people from school. Meet people, meet their friends, meet their friend's friends. In time you'll meet the kind of people you're looking for.
