2 new tubs prematurely pinning an issue?

So i left my two newest tubs sitting for about 12 days before i checked them at all. The top of the substrate still doesnt look to be 100% colonized but DAMN are there a lot of pins. I just put it into fruiting so im hoping the first flush will happen soon. This isnt going to affect anything right>? The fact that there are so many pins before being thrown into fruiting conditions that is.. Will most of them abort? or is it all good?

If there is no visible mold but there is uncolonized substrate present when you see pins, 99% of the time it means you have a bacterial contamination issue.

Are you spawning to coir, and did you do the whole "layer of just coir on top" without spawn, like I think it says in a certain tek?
If so, I think that's common. I believe most people ditch that top layer "casing" idea nowadays and just mix all the spawn evenly into the substrate.
If that's not what you did, then, what Frank said
-------------------- Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here. ------------------- Have some medicinal mushrooms and want to get the most out of them? Try this double extraction method.

man, its always bacterial contamination with me.. i need to rework my process a bit and figure out whats making this happen.
I DID use a layer of substrate on top though. This is the first time ive decided to cover all the exposed grains, and also the first time ive gotten so many premature pins.
hopefully time will tell. Thanks for the info guys.

How are you pasteurizing your sub, what teks are you following. Ms or isolates or LC?

Since it's your first time using a top layer I'm guessing you're just not used to having substrate showing through. When there are grains on the surface the horizontal growth obscures the coir.
Unless you're talking about larger patches with no mycelium that wouldn't be good.

Bacterial contam, probably from your spawn.
If those don't abort, you'll get one flush out of the deal

iv gotten three healthy flushes out of subs with early pining. In my case I think early pinning was caused by an improper seal and fresh air getting in during colonization.

You don't need to "seal" your tubs, the colonizing myc needs gas exchange

I had holes in the lid cover in plastic pore tape. I think the combination of too many holes and a loose fitting lid created conditions close to that of a small fruiting chamber.

well none of them seem to be aborting, so ill have at least one really good flush lol. that liner does wonders with keeping all the mushrooms on top. definitely using a liner from now on for any future tubs. thanks to that liner i think ill be having my first ever canopy!
