Microwaving Shroom kits

Hello, I've finally decided to make an account here as I've always been lurking on these forums. I love it here, I've learned so much and I now feel prepared to go on my first shroom trip! Thanks everyone.
Where I live, I might be able to get shrooms (my network isn't that great) but it'll be from a friend of a friend of a friend and no one else. I don't want to get shrooms from a complete random and prices are another thing, so I'd like to grow them myself. The shroomery's vendor can't ship to where I live so I found another site. This site had a small kit that requires you to add water and microwave it.
I consider myself somewhat spiritual and a health nut, so I'm skeptical about microwaving the mushrooms. If anyone has had any experience with "Mega-You-Grow Mini Magic Mushroom Spawn Kit" please share! Any experts out there know of an alternative way to warm up the kit without messing up the kit itself?
I see that a lot of people are against kits, I'm also open for easy ways to grow my own mushrooms without a kit. Cheap is always great. The problem is, I'm not going to be able to go out and get supplies anytime soon due to some complications and the amount of snow here.
Thank you!

I'm not sure you will find anyone here at the Shroomery that will tell you to go ahead with buying a kit. Believe me, if I can grow mushies on my own by gathering up a few supplies, so can you.
I know that you want mishrooms NOW, but mushrooms take patience. Do some more reading, and then read some more.
I was like you, ready to buy a cheap (or not so cheap) kit. I read information here at the Shroomery for over 6 months before I decided to gather my supplies and order some spores. Now I know that I can do it. I have everything I need to do so, and I will never really have to buy a syringe/print agian.
Start with PF Tek. Build yourself a shotgun fruiting chamber (SGFC), and before you know it.you will be spawning to bulk.

Much love man! I've been reading watching the "Let's Grow Mushrooms! pf tek" videos and it seems rather simple. Some people are saying some of the techniques there are outdated?
Is there anything I need to do differently than those videos? I'll be moving out of my apartment and into a new house by March, I'm assuming I can safely grow shrooms in the basement? And how about spores, where can I get them in Canada?
Thanks, I just need to be pointed in the right direction and my curiosity will take over haha.

check the sponsors for spores and sty away from spores 101, also watch mushroomvideos.com, that ets grow mushrooms indeed has some bunk info but still not a bad refrence, it's talked about in the outdated info sticky at the top of the thread

Exactly what is bunk or outdated in Let's Grow Mushrooms?
To the original poster: If you see anything that says 'microwave' and 'mushrooms' in relation to each other, disregard it as bad info. RR

I think it's a good idea to start of with a kit as the first step. At least, that's what I was going to try in the very beginning.
That way, while you're waiting for your kit to cultivate, you can use leftover spores to create an LC, then start PF cakes from that LC.
How long do you think the roads will be closed? If you're waiting for them to open so that you can get supplies, you can always educate yourself in the meantime.

Kits are horrible and you shouldn't mention any vendors name on the cultivation forum, ever. Start with the PK tek and build an SGFC, you won't regret it .

Honestly i'm on my first grow now and I too was going to get a kit but decided not to. Im on week 2 now and its great (I think atleast I have also logged all my stuff on here too). the Pf tek is supper easy, the only thing I regret was buying the tall jars not the small ones. I woke up one morning and decided i wanted to grow my own shrooms so i knew where they came from and everything. then a week later i got my syringe. in all i spent like maybe 35$(verm,perlite,jars,spores). best off luck man!

People always write stuff like that and it makes me think they're in rehab
You can get started the 'lets grow mushrooms' video for less than $40 I get a discount at a local hardware store so for me it was more like 25.
Just make sure you get the right jars. Those tall pints in xBELLSPROUTx's pictures can sometimes stall out.
These are the ones you want:

Stalling usually means that there was growth going on and then at some point you stop seeing growth after several days. In this situation some people find that turning the jars upside down can bring more air to the bottom of the jar and start them up again.
