making lc lids to to field test homemade magnetic stirrer

So I've ordered my fan control knob from Fry's and will be picking it up 1st thing in the a.m. on my way to work so's when I get's home I can hook it up to my newly completed magnetic stirrer.
Since I have yet to pick up any legit stir rods and have to use what I have on hand my stir rod will be a 1.5 in brass nail out of a picture hanging kit. Therefore I can only use half pint jars at this time if I want to use the stirrer.
Being that I'm impatient and have plenty of spores on hand as well as a dozen jars already inoculated I've decided to pass the time while they colonize field testing my stirrer so's maybe i can have some nice LC to do my next batch when the current ones are ready for the FC.
That way while those fuckers are colonizing I'll be too busy maintaining humidity in the FC to bother my little guys that need to be left alone anyways. (I have a tendency to be hyperactive and long-winded... sue me).
Any ways so the jars are your basic half pints tall and slim, and I used a tek I remembered from a long time ago but I haven't been able to find it to link it so other noobs can see. It's a really easy one, at least for me.
You simply drill two holes in your jar lid put some red, hi-temp rtv on a piece of tape and put it over the hole so it spreads across it and hopefully through it and put a piece of tape on the other side. This makes some awesome self-healing injection ports IMO.
For the other hole you place a fluted brass fitting of some sort, I bought some crimp sleeves from Lowe's (18 - 10 gauge, 50 pack $2). You seal the lip to the outside of the jar lid with rtv, and I put some around the inside too just to insure a good seal.
Now all that's left to do is wait 24 hours for the rtv to cure and you can crimp the sleeve down with pliers and stuff some polyfill in there. I will prob be adding a layer of tyvek over the whole shenanigans that will be secured by screwing the jar lid down over the edges... unless anyone can see why this is a bad idea.
I know filter disks are ideal but i think a good seal, some polyfill, and a little tyvek can go a long way as long as you keep everything else very very sanitary. (my house has been getting raped by oust, bleach water and hand sanitizer lately haha.)
Tomorrow will be the day I will finally get to see how awesome it is to be able to make an lc with the assistance of a magnetic stirrer.

Well this was a tek i found about 2 years ago and have not been able to find it since.
So it is possible that this one has been ruled as less effective than syringe filters but in the tek the author claimed to have been using them for years and not having any problems with success and Idk how easy syringe filters are to reuse and re-sterilize but with these babies you can pull the polyfill out with a toothpick, boil the lid with the jar and everything and stuff some fresh polyfill in there and it's good to go.
Truthfully I haven't even given much thought to making syringe filters as I hadn't previously had a stirrer and had to "hand stir" my lc and therefore didn't want something that stuck so far down that it could come into contact with the water.
If you or anyone has info that this tek has been discredited plz tell me asap lol.

nvm, i totally just looked up what a syringe filter is and it's totally not what i thought lol. i thought you meant making your FAE hole out of an old syringe as I've seen this done in several threads.
