I've been watching. I'm going to play around with some pp5s.
Going to follow the tek to a T(including the grain prep with ferts added) for 6 pp5s and then put my own spin on an additional 6.
Because I like mutants, I'll use the same culture I used for this grow.

Well I'm up, feeling a little more human, and just finished the harvest of the mono. Was a bit of a pain, fuckers were so solid (probably because of the cooler temps) and so bunched in tight, that it was pretty much impossible to keep from tearing up some of the sub Any blank patches that you see on the surface of the harvested mono, is literally where I could not avoid tearing up the casing/substrate. One of the drawbacks to this culture Fruits were a little smaller than I'm used to from this culture (but that's probably due to the cooler temps as well).

All in all, with all the things I fucked up with this mono ie; let the spawn consolidate, sterilized sub, late cased, sterilized coir verm casing, I'm pretty happy with that yield for 2.5 quarts of spawn.
Now for my theory. . .

This is also looking pretty good. Let's hope for low abort rate, rite?
I believe that an abort rate is on the precipice of why the first flush was poor. This culture roots deep. No twist and pull for these guys. I have a suspicion that if we were to remove the casing from the first pp5 cup, there would be a lot of aborts down there. Why did the pins abort? Because this is a retarded fruiting strain, one of the drawbacks. Bulk can supply enough water, but I doubt that the pp5 can for the first flush without early bottom watering. Your tek states that you do not start to bottom water until the sides have pulled away after the first flush. I believe that with an aggressive fruiting strain such as this, bottom watering should be initiated sooner. I have now bottom watered the cups with the heavy visible pinset, ahead of schedule and off tek. To be fair, I usually use a lower spawn rate with this culture which gives a lighter pinset, but bigger fruits first flush. We shall see how it plays out.
How this culture looks with a lower spawn ratio

Can you take a pic of bottom of the sub in the tub and the depth of it? (when you get a chance and without the trash bag covering it of course)

Well, if this is to be a science experiment, we are going to need some measurements.

? That doesn't tell us the depth of the sub heh, the other containers should also be measured, so we can correlate the amount of substrate in total for both the control and the treatment groups.

It's been nowhere, this isn't even science. Do you have the dry weights of the subs for each group?
This thread really doesn't show anything useful, the experiment isn't even replicable with the current data presented.

Scratch that, too tired, poor grasp/use of vernacular, too baked My first time in a while.

Feel free to do it yourself Got more thought put into it than anything I have seen you produce. Or are you just pissed I won't do your Oven tek for you?

Pasty, I think you should have watered as soon as you saw your first pin. I think that was a big mistake.
