Test 16: The PASSION of the Cacti.
Without LIGHT, there is no LIFE To those of you who feel surrounded by DARKNESS SHINE BRIGHT LIKE A DIAMOND! And BE the beacon of HOPE

Now that I have your attention. I have told you countless times I haven't given you anything NEW Besides a way to THINK Therefore I AM
I RECYCLED an ORGANIC burlap sac that I acquired for FREE. It will eventually DECOMPOSE.

Bookmarked. Am I wrong here or does it appear to be a method of ensuring a cutting is rooted before it's even cut from the parent plant? I've had several small cuttings in the past die on me before they ever rooted so I'm going to be trying this soon as I have quite a few I want to take a cutting of but don't want to risk losing. I cut quite a few very small TBM pups off my mother plant last year and after 9+ months of no roots, many shriveled and one rotted.

SUPER DUPER DOUBLE D your 100% correct! I will remove this plant from it's stalk. Then pot (in soil) the WHOLE thing! You just have to remember to keep it moist enough for it to root.

One technique to root cacti that are grafted is to cut the stock very short or to to cut it half off at the joint so that the scion still gets nutrients from the stock but will be shoot new roots in search for water/nutrients.

Good stuff. I can't remember where I saw it now but somewhere there was a pic tutorial of cutting the graft stock off but leaving about 2cm of length left. After that the person peeled the entire stock away from it's core and the only thing left was the woody core..no skin or anything else left whatsoever It was then rooted and you could never tell the scion was grafted once placed in soil.
I received a cacti from someone in a trade and they had actually done this so I know it works but it seems like overkill when both of the above methods you two mention work just as well. I'm still unsure what benefit peeling everything down to the core would give over leaving the stock in tact.

It may help to accelerate rooting? If I am understanding you right, it is similar to "shaving" the end of a Cannabis clone?
Want another benefit of air layering?
It provides a nice winter coat for cold cacti!

Yeah that's exactly what they did. When I received the trade I checked the bottom and it looked like a ~2cm wooden straw was sticking out of the bottom of the cacti.

This technique not new. My khat has made a few. Not by my hand, mind you. It seems the lower branches rub against the ground and the moisture closest to the ground helps magically induce rooting. Its completely attached to the tree. I seen it about 3 times. I have cut them before but I can never fully get them to thrive being cut. As if the roots support some 3rd party moisture.

Layering has been my most successful way of propagating Catha. I cut them once they have some good roots pot them up and then keep them in the shade with plenty of water. ( for a Catha )

The shade. Aha! Thats what it was. Ithought them being rooted could handle full sun like my other one. Not so I guesss. Thanks GOT.

All of the small ones that I propagate from suckers and layering wont handle full sun I presume it is the fact that there roots system is very small. Once they establish themselves they will handle it better. I also find that any Catha in a pot struggles here in full sun during summer but I do use a mix much the same as I do for my Trichs. I have tried watering every day during summer but they are still wilted each afternoon.
Cheers Got

I've tried cloning Catha many times to no avail. I'm going to probably try once more using the exact method I was recently so successful cloning Kratom with, but air layering may be a better option.
What do you use to make your actual soil wrap part of it?

Check the link at the very top, plastic wrap seems to work well if you don't have a burlap sack handy. As long as the material retains moisture inside it should do the job according to the tek.

Skip small trollin'
C'moooooooon... Your pereskiopsis are on DIRT.. In trash, plants doesn't belong to dirt because of humans have taken them out of nature.. right? What? I need someone to support me now! In the new age..
Dirt is not new In the NEW AGE Dirt will be cleaned off... No matter of what, I use chemicals to root my cannabis I have stolen from friend garden, I use only water to grow my trichos.. Not dirt.. Never work, but I d0n't mind.. In the new age, it's fast way to produce flesh of trichs and take sum trip with my pal... Name is scumbag steve.. aaaawwww-yeeeeaaah.. you ain't shit dude, you're just... ...vintage bs bla bla "do this, do dat" Liek mein mom!? ...in the new age
They see some trollin' ..they hatin'
but scumbags and new age! I don' know what it is cult sounds so fancy, I'm in.. no matter what.. Who have acid? I have my grandpa blood pressure pills if it helps?
Steve the scumbag raid mein grandma hus.. yo.. I think we do today lots of drugs and eat pereskiopsis leafs ...to get high.
NeW AgE.. You all know, I am messiah, you are just scumbags HiioooH
----------
Seriously.. This what I say good TEK.. Hookahhead, your way's to do this.. amazing.
This is awesome way to make trich cuttings before they are really "cuttings"
You're teaching lots of things, yet simple and new for me, but I don't say I can't learn more.. Want to learn more. I have two trichs(only because lack of stocks) from my hybrid tray grafted to pereskiopsis.. I Hope they succees.. I think I have find out the way how to graft with success atm
Only need to wait I grow pereskiopsis stocks more and more.. and graft trichs to get fast new specimens and make them cuttings at size of 5-8inch or so..
Pereskiopsis, It's very weird cacti species indeed and new for me.. First plants I had from good friend there shroomery and I started to practice grafting to pereskiopsis. It took some time to learned it. For my shit luck when I first got pereskiopsis, I had 8-9 small purple-white peyote seedlings I tried to graft but I doesn't had skill to graft 'em and fuck them all..
Sorry about trolling my friend.. I could not resist to act like idiot very first time, this is new age.. Seems it's common around.. heh..
But this way to produce roots to trich scion.. You have learned me the way to get fast trich cuttings without cutting them off from pereskiopsis and root them separately. Nice..

My plan with pereskiopsis have been skip the slow start of trichs with and make fast good size plants and root them.

Like hookahhead mentioned it would accelerate rooting as there would be NO source of energy to the scion however it does protect it from drying out since there is not exposed flesh from cutting the scion off. This is just my thinking but from what I've noticed from a few lazy degrafts of mine it seems to be the case.

Yeah air layering sounds like a cool technique, never tried it but trichocereus-pereskiopsis grafts seem like a good application. They sometimes make roots on the grafts on their own, but it seems like it would help to get them to do it more quickly and reliably.

No one is trying to silence you, it's just this ranting stuff is getting a little old and off topic. It's all relevant when it pertains to plants/growing etc.., but it's not when you're trying to "open our eyes" and the minor trolling of another member here. We've been pretty lenient but soon we probably wont be if certain behaviours continue. I'm starting to cringe signing in here over the last few weeks.
Also:

If you bump within the 48 hour period you will receive a warning in that thread. If you continue to bump the thread after being warned the thread will either be closed (if it is yours) and you'll get an official warning for not following the rules. If you need to add or remove items from your post, please edit your original post or last post to avoid getting a warning for bumping the thread.

Hey man, don't get me wrong, I was on board at first. Anne is kind crazy and doesn't really satisfy anyone's curiosity with her lack of answered questions and cocky/arrogant demeanor. But, no one is going to feel sorry for you if you get banned after karode has respectfully warned you.
It is getting a little old, and a bit flooding, for pretty much half of the EG posts to be specifically for the purpose of trolling Anne.

AGAIN It's still the old "Nothing New" to you? All I can say is AT LEAST I TRIED I INFORMED you to BUILD THE ARK A FLOOD WAS EMINENT BUT YOU WOULDN'T LISTEN
Be Happy! The Wave has Now Passed And things can return to "Normal"
Well the first days are the hardest days, don't you worry any more 'Cause when life looks like easy street, there is danger at your door Think this through with me, let me know your mind Wo-oh, what I want to know is, are you kind? It's a buck dancer's choice my friend, better take my advice You know all the rules by now, and the fire from the ice Will you come with me, won't you come with me? Wo-oh, what I want to know, will you come with me? God damn, well I declare, have you seen the like? Their walls are built of cannon balls Their motto is "don't" tread on me" Come hear Uncle John's Band, playing to the tide Come with me or go alone He's come to take his children home It's the same story the crow told me, it's the only one he knows Like the morning sun you come and like the wind you go Ain't no time to hate, barely time to wait Wo-oh, what I want to know, where does the time go? I live in a silver mine and I call it beggar's tomb I got me a violin and I beg you call the tune Anybody's choice, I can hear your voice Wo-oh, what I want to know, how does the song go? Come hear Uncle John's Band, by the river side Got some things to talk about Here beside the rising tide

Hunter the storyteller can also be Hunter the aphorist—one who crafts brilliant little double-edged phrases that help and haunt us as we blunder forward through our lives. Like Shakespeare, his phrases can easily be pulled out of the context of their settings and used as mottoes or admonishments; reassurances or daring propositions, depending on how they are needed at any given moment. Maybe you have had the experience of suddenly hearing a Hunter line in a new way, appropriate to that particular moment or event in your life. It’s happened to me many times — a line will just jump out at me and ambush me, or hug me, or astound me in a new way.

Took ya long enough bro.
With all due respect hookah, just drop the charade when you come back. I get you and I know. But most of this is uncalled for.

I didn't want to do it but enough is enough. The forum has been pretty negative for a few weeks, I was hoping it would sort itself out, it isn't so it's time to start letting people know that trolling, flaming, baiting and constant off topic posts aren't accepted here.

Thank you. It was getting to be a monologue. This is a great forum and I love reading about the plants and techniques, the pissing contest is silly.

At first he was obviously just trolling Anne but in the last little while I started to wonder if he was really having a legit and somewhat unrelated meltdown. Don't know him well enough to tell but I hope he's doing alright.
In any case, this burlap air layering technique does look promising for cacti IMO.
