do you think this could be a more effective way to dry my shrooms other than just a fan? you can see a receiver under the paper towel since the heat goes up, the fan will dry them faster. also it will keep it not very hot either. might work?

I would just oven dry them with the fan.

A Nesco food dehydrator. If you don't want to drop the money on a dehydrator you can put a can of Damp Rid inside a tote. Then tape some screen up over the can. Then put the shrooms on the screen on top of the Damp Rid.

you'll know they're dry when you have like 12 or less grams. I would bet 10. Get a food dehydrator that goes up to 160F and use that, they're about 30$.

The actives don't start to degrade till over 300f. Oxygen is what degrades them. Just get them dry and do it fast then seal them in an air tight container preferably with some desiccant.

Any source of dry heat should speed up the process.

Has anyone tried the absorbent silica drying method in a closed container with a screen to hold up the mushies and the silica underneath

i did it with a bunch of damprid once just to try it out. fan dried the mushies for a couple of days and then locked them in tupperware with the damprid. it worked, they got cracker dry, but honestly a dehydrator is way faster.

I used $13 in total to buy two large circular tuperware containers, a large packet of DampRid, and wire mesh. I can dry ~200 grams wet at a time. If you bought like 4 more tuperware containers (additional $4) you could dry 600 grams at a time. It took about 48 hours for them to get cracker dry.

Yup that is why I suggested it.
