RH in mono question

I recently introduced my mono to fruiting conditions. Bottom 4 holes (2 each side) are stuffed tightly and are 1". Top 2 holes (1 each side) are stuffed fairly loosely... RH in the room is low at around 25% and I can't seem to build any condensation on the inside of the mono. It was field capacity (if anything it was on the slightly wet side) coir/verm that I spawned my WBS to. I'm wondering if because the low RH in the room the mono is drying out quicker or having a hard time retaining moisture?! FAE is maintained by a ceiling fan on low... I appreciate any/all help with this so thanks in advance!

Condensation is more about heat differentials. Does not mean yr sub is too dry or wet. It's a bit of a misnomer thinking that loads of water pouring down the inside of a tub = high humidity

my thermometer reads 73' fairly consistently sitting on the shelf next to the mono... Would I be far off in thinking that with a few degrees warmer will be the mono due to the mycelial development thereby creating the needed differential?!

my dubs are very similar to a mono. they have very little condensation but still preform well.

It's an enclosed environment and the myc / sub will give off heat so it will be warmer in there but you do not "need" a differential unless you want to be reassured by condensation

any advantages to how you've set up your dubs over a more 'traditional' mono?! Never seen a setup like you've got...

right on thanks skinty... makes sense - should i see beads of water on the surface?! Wondering if maybe a misting would be in order as I see no drops on the surfacem but again am confident that the sub was mixed to field capacity...

I just did things this way because five of my subs colonized to fast and I only had room for 2 of them in my GHFC. This was just the easiest way to get them into fruiting conditions. I do like them quit a bit though and will likely use them again.

They're essentially the same. Only difference I can think of is that you can do smaller tubs and still have the extra headspace for the fruits to grow. I personally use dub tubs made from shoebox sterilite tubs.

IME mushrooms will grow better with extra water once your tub is fully colonised. You want to keep the moisture content at field capacity initially so less likely to contam

mine are also about the size of a shoebox. I find the lower walls makes harvesting easier. its also handy not having to tape any holes during colonization.

Very true about making things easier come harvest time. Mine have some with the lower holes on the bottom tub and others with all the holes on the top one. I even have one made into a mini MSG (mono-shotgun) but I'm not too keen on that one.
