Who has a Flexable or Collapseable SAB?

Who's using those under the bed semi-rigid totes or similar as an SAB? I wana see some pictures or suggestions or thoughts on the matter. I want something I can move around that's not a huge tote. I like the idea of the floor being part of the SAB contrary to using a towel or a table with an upside down rubbermade/sterlite. If I could put my SAB into a backpack that would be amazing. I've seen some around but I guess I want the current opinion from people with some experience with them, are they more of a hassle then it's worth?

One of the mycoshops over here has something similar, its basically a big balloon with gloves built in but instead of inert gas you get a microfilter and an airpump to fill it up with sterile air sells for about 250eur

Did you have a collapsible inner structure? Or was it rigid enough to stay erect? I've seen the ones with zippers but I would imagine the zipper's seal is not the best?

Size , I have too many totes as it is in here. I have a SAB but I want a bigger one, Rather than upgrading to a huge ass tote(money is not a problem) I wanted something that could store away. I really don't have all that much room here.

exactly, g2g is a bitch in my SAB and if I can replace it with something bigger yet storable that would be ideal. I can do g2g as it is but I have to tilt both jars and it isn't quite as neat and sterile as it should be I loose a jar here and there and when it goes bad I already knew why This place is one small bedroom one small livingroom a bathroom that's like 10 square feet and a kitchen that's just a sink and a stove with like 2 square feet of countertops. I just really don't have room for another big tote, I barely have room for a single SGFC lol.

It's not standard procedure, and by all logic honestly shouldn't work as well as it does, but it definitely does. I've done thousands of jars, agar pours/transfers/inoculations, g2g, LC, absolutely everything in it you could imagine. It works damn well.

I'm pleasantly surprised. I might actually give it a try. My instinct tells me it's full of fail but looks like it worked well. The hepa air isn't laminar so I guess I would think all sorts of contams would be just flying around inside of the bag.
though

Like I said, by all logic, yes you should have circulating currents around the arm holes making everything dirty. But for some reason it either doesn't matter or it doesn't happen. I've tried to do the smoke test from outside the bag but it disperses too quickly to really tell what it's doing.

It's what I use all of the time. The only times I use my SAB are for transferring agar away from contams or making spore prints.
You can NEVER put anything contaminated in one of these. The spores will blow all over your work and house.

Yea, for sure same rules as with a LFH. Well shit if you're using it with success I think I'll have to give it a try. Same filter as the TEK posting or a different one?

The same Holmes model he uses there. The design has changed a little over the years, and price has gone up about $5-10 but it's pretty much the same.
I do, however, buy the upgraded filter that's actually a HEPA rated at 99.99%, but only after I wear out the one that comes with it. I don't notice much difference, but the upgraded ones aren't much more expensive than the standard replacement filters and make me feel better.

i saw franks grown tent setup and it looks like a hassle to setup and break down. Anything cheap and easy to breakdown?

Rigid walls is probably important in sab function. If it collapsed I would go with hinged plexi before plastic film.

So I know this is an old thread but I wasn't the one who hit it with the paddles Lol, anyways I'm currently dealing with the same dilemma and just had an idea pop in my head that I thought may or may not work great.
What about using pvc pipe and thick plastic to make your own sab whatever size you'll need it but then when your done all the fittings and the glove cover can just slip right off for storage? Worth a try?

I had originally thought of making a frame of unglued together 3/4" pvc pipe. Then make a plastic "pillow case" to go over it. Just like your saying. Never tried it tho.

Well if both of us had it cross our minds I think it may be worth a trial run, I also have tyvek sleeves I could attach to the "pillow case" cover for better and more sterile arm holes.

Not really what your looking for but I wrapped 3m plastic wrap over a 2x4 box put my sab inside and did work. Was sketchy using a flame inside. But I feel I could possibly do G2G in that room with minimal problems.

To me I would use a SAB if I'm poor and lazy, otherwise I'd build a flow hood. Building a SAB out of PVC and whatever seems like an uncomfortable middle ground. I do not see why it wouldn't work though so long as it's sealed well enough. I would be concerned with plastic sheeting adding turbulence though, any air movement outside will propagate through the walls inside where as with rigid walls 99% of it will be blocked and the only that would come through would be from leaks/the arm holes. Outside is supposed to be free of air flow as well though for a SAB to work so ideally that wouldn't matter.
