Is there any way to tell if the center is colonized (BRF)?

First time posting and first time grower. I'm wondering is there anyway to tell if the center of the cake is fully colonized?
I messed up and got pint jars, and its been over a month waiting. Everything is going good so far only the bottom is left to finish, but how do I know if the mycelium is all the way to the center or if its only skin deep?
Any help would be great o and I may have packed the jars a bit before pcing

The perimeter of a circle or cylinder is the largest distance for the mycelium to travel. The distance from the edges to the center is less than for the mycelium to crawl all the way to the top and bottom, especially since you used the wrong size jars.
When the outside is fully colonized, you can be sure the inside is colonized as well.
Allow a week after that before birthing. RR

Yep, or take it out and cut it in half
Just to soothe your worries a little bit though I have used pint jars for PF cakes and gotten decent yields, and aside from the long colonization time they didn't stall out; however I did make the BRF/VERM/H2O mix to field capacity by feeling rather than just measuring it out and assuming it was right. The pint jars don't perform twice as well as the half pints do and I considered them quite a waist of time due to colonization lag. You could have run two sets of half pints through most likely in the same time frame.

In my admittedly limited experience, the bottom is the last bit to colonize- Once that's done you should be good to go. Lately I've just been waiting for pins to form in the jar since full colonization is a major pinning trigger.
