...anorexia....

I am not trying to be rude, just curious, how can an eating disorder be associated to orellanine poisoning?

"Anorexia" is a symptom, "anorexia nervosa" is an eating disorder.

Ah that makes sense, I should have looked it up myself, I have never heard the term used to describe a symptom.

It's used regularly in a medical setting, but in everyday speaking people tend to use it (somewhat incorrectly) to mean the disorder.

Yeah, orellanine poisoning is very unlikely. I doubt she is tripping if she's pregnant. There are many other things that can cause kidney pain. It's a good sign that blood tests are all normal.

I meant 'journey' as in tripping...

Good luck Lauren, I've stood by my partner through this. You can do it too. One of the most difficult experiences in life they tell me. You are healthy and clean, you are safe and your baby will be fine. Doctors have confirmed this... So, give your self a break... go gracefully into your last days of pregnancy. (if grace is possible  )

I'd be so bold as to say it's impossible in this case. Orellanine is a toxin that doesn't play around, no one would live 2 years after ingesting even the smallest amount. I found no record of survivors who got better on their own, without medical attention.

yeah, the first time I had this pain it was within a week or two and I have done research it can take 3-14 days, what im not sure is how long does delayed acute renal failure take, where as it would be a lot slower because of the other issues this poison is known to cause like nephritis, diabetes, which can lead up to renal failure. It also states that the poison can be found in your system up to six months after ingestion. So could it be possible to live beyond that with medical problems accumulating? with both incidents I have had nausea, vomiting, increased urination, the first time I had chills, and Terrible flank pain. But its hard to find answers because there have not been that many cases of orellanine poisoning. I cant seem to find any straight answers.

Has anyone checked for kidney stones? A female friend of mine had them and mentioned almost identical symptoms.

Short of biopsying your kidneys, I don't know if there is any other way to be sure

OP should inquire about an ultrasound of her kidney, they are not harmful to pregnant people.
