Mini Mono with 2 Quarts of spawn Questions on size and Tek

Hi everyone!!
I have 2 quarts of rye spawn. I was wondering if anyone has experience with a mini-mono and if so has some links for this amount and what size container.
1.) I do not have a container and I am going to the store. Anyone know what to buy? I know you can use water to measure but I don't think I can bring a bunch of water and start dumping them into tubs and measuring... lol Anyone have a brand/size they know is good for this size
2.) Should I use 2 quarts of coir/verm per quart of spawn? or just go with 1:1?
3.) I have some sterilized coir/verm from a vendor. Should I scrap it or use it? I also have a brick and can do my own pasteurization.
Thanks!

For question one this is what I did. Use the bulk substrate calculator. If you google it is the second one down. Input your desired substrate depth, and your specified spawn to substrate ratio. Then I went to target with this pulled up on my phone, and input a couple different length and widths from the options that they had. This will tell you how much spawn you need for your depth. Ex - I just put in some numbers. If you want a 1:2 ratio at 3 in deep for a 10 x 10 in container you'd need 1.73 quarts

i have 2 qts rye spawned to 4 qts coir/verm/coffee in a 27 quart sterlite now. holes r standard size/amount (2 on each long side above substrate, 1 on each short side at top) i think they r 1.25 or 1.5 inches in diameter.

do what u can to get it to 3- 3.5 inches total substrate depth. even if u have to add 1 or 2 more quarts of sub above a 1:2 ratio (making it a 1:2.5 ish ratio)

Ok 27 quart sterilite , I may want to go smaller as I want a 2inch sub depth. Maybe like 25 or something around there, thanks just wanted a ballpark to start with

pasteurize ur own! who knows how/when they sterilized it. thats just me tho, i like doing stuff from scratch u will have to learn eventually. but i also got a contam from a "sterilized" rye spawn bag from a vendor a while back, so maybe I'm biased.
why 2 inch sub depth out of curiosity? it may work, but a thicker sub will perform better, retaining moisture for more than 1 flush, etc.

I read that you want 2-3in of sub??
Is that correct in your experience?
Sorry read your post wrong.. I thought you said 1in sub that you have right now but that was the diameter of the holes.. lol its early

Also do you guys layer instead of mixing all the spawn and sub together ?
With this little amount would layering be beneficial vs mixing ?

def. mix it well, no layering required. and shoot for 3" u won't be disappointed. it will hold water a bit better (because there is more to start with) and more nutrients (because of same thing) so bigger, better flushes! 2 inch or less can dry out way faster. same idea (kind of) with the shot gun tek, u don't want 1-2" perlite because it dries out too quickly, u want 3-4" so the water stays around the surface of the perlite stays for longer. i dunno if this even relates, but a 2 inch puddle in a tub will evaporate over time more quickly than a 3 inch puddle over time. we aren't dealing with puddles here obviously, but similar idea, no?
