Ill post some pics in a little bit but for the meantime here is a weight update.

121g wet

So far my average per cake is around 6-8g dry.  Pretty cool to see almost a whole half oz come off 1 cake.  Haven't harvested any more albinos yet.  Those will prob be ready tomorrow.

1/2/14, harvest update (120wet off 1 cake) plus albinos ready for picking! [Re: 1down5up]

Thanks for the support man! Its cool to have another guy on here that started around the same time as I did.  I'm guessing you are starting to think bulk now?

UPDATE TIME!! Here is that crazy cake that gave me slightly over 120 wet.

All picked and separated...

Here are the albinos going well.  The 2 on the right will probably be harvested later tonight.  Bottom right one for sure.  The other left 2 are taking a little longer and I will probably pick them tomorrow or this weekend.

Some close ups.

The biggest cap.

I love the variety.  1 cake will have a giant and the others right next to it will have a TON of smaller fruits.  Some perfectly white all the way until harvest.  Some turn blue pretty fast.  Others more of a cream off white color.

All in all I am still having a lot of fun with this.  Not only am I creating more of something I love, I have gained a new skill.  Something about that is very fulfilling.

I can't send my love out to the shroomery enough.  Without you guys and the posts you have put out there over the years there is NO WAY I could have made it this far with success.

THANK YOU!

    #19383715 - 01/07/14 05:02 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

UPDATE TIME!

So I have lost track a little bit on the timeline of these pics.  I harvested 2 cakes together and then the cake with the big one I was anxious about.  I will update with more pics and a timeline later when I'm not as drunk haha.  I also made this great tea the other day that was...well...great..

So here's some pics.  All Albinos...

Good looking fruits growing up..

Cake ready for harvest...

Here is two albino cakes after harvested together.

Cool fruits..

Here is the cake with the largest fruit...

Drying out..

Well I must say your first grow blew mine away!  Great job.  You had single fruits bigger than entire 6 cake flushes of mine.  Hopefully I am getting better stuff on agar now.

2.8 dry after splitting it and taking a couple samples for LC.  I thought it was going to end up being more but looks seem to be deceiving.  Its funny how now that I am seeing the whole process I am realizing how many improperly grown and dried fruits I have been given over the years.  I swear I dry them out WAAAAAY more, I guess that is to be expected when you are in the hobby for personal stuff vs profit.

Thanks for the complements.  I seemed to get pretty lucky on my first go at it.  All I can suggest is to read as much as you can.  Read as many teks about the same process as you can then read some more.  I simply did what was suggested on here by a lot of different people and it worked out.

Can't wait to see where agar takes you!

Did you try that honey tek man?  Worked aces for me.  Still got some growing on my dresser with nothing more than a piece of tinfoil over a hole in the top.
Cronicr turned me onto a BRF agar sub that works great man and is super easy.  I used one drop of my LC on them and 24 hrs later i saw myc growth.  It's still looking good on 7 of the 8 BRF agar substitutes.....heres a link man, in case you're wondering.

http://www.shroomery.org/8514/Agar-substitute

only thing i would recommend is not use glass jars...not with any designs on them.  I used little pp5 containers and they're great...can see right through them.

Great pinset on that albino man...hope you cloned that one!

Honey tek seems to be working out ok.  I have been trying to leave it alone so it can do its thing but I checked on it today.  About a dime sized thick area of white floating at the top of the jar.  I assume this is myc but it has a thicker more solid appearance then I was expecting.  I will have to post some pics later to get every ones opinion on how it's looking.

I have been using a lot of plastics in different parts of the process too.  It seems to work out as a pretty good alternative to glass.

Appreciate it dude:thumbup:! Especially from someone with so much experience...I just checked out your gallery :ooo:  Someday I hope to open a tub and see canopies like that!

Next job for me is cleaning out my little FC.  I have been isolating possible contaminated cakes in there and growing them out a little.  My first 2 suspected contams were not contams at all just my novice nose.  Those grew out great in the little FC and it actually may have better conditions then the big FC just because it is so small.  A week or so ago I had a cake that I thought was being taken over by trich.  No green just the fluffy white growth over the verm/myc.  Glad I moved it because a few days later it turned green.  Had a similar experience with another cake so at least I know I can ID contams pretty well.  I wasn't even inspecting the cakes just the standard open up mist/fan when the starting signs of trich grabbed my eye.

Unfortunately now that FC is contaminated and I have no place to put this other cake im worried about.  It doesn't look like trich.  Almost has a beige/tan color.  I just don't want to trash it yet because it has pins on it with some smaller sized fruits that seem to be growing.  And the small FC sterilization begins....
