Obese people never learned how to eat. They don't understand what makes them fat and what doesn't. Lots of people will go for carbs rich diets simply because its more satisfying than a veggie diet.

If you base your diet on what tastes good, you are bound to get really fat, really fast. Anything sold in the middle aisles of the grocery store is toxic and that's probably where they buy most of their food.

I base my diet on what tastes good: mostly fruit and veggies

A lot of people do just heat up microwave dinners for multiple meals a day, though.  That's disgusting and will certainly make you fat.

Yeah but you got used to eating fruits and veggies and therefore they taste good to you. I bet you can't even stand the taste of KD and other shit food.

People that didn't learn how to eat properly learn to love these salty foods. When it doesn't taste salty, they don't like it.

Fruits are the worst thing a fat person can eat if they want to loose weight.

Yeah, I don't really like salt.  I never use it in my cooking and always try to find the lowest sodium version of any canned goods I use (such as unsalted diced tomatoes).  The amount of salt on all processed foods disgusts me.

See this is why I started at the gym this week. I have never ever worried or had to worry about my food intake. As I approach thirty I imagine my metabolic rate will slow (then again people said that about age 20 and 25 but nothing changed). either way I am making a conscious choice to eat better and exercise.

Seriously my resting heart rate is like 70-80bpm.

They are using food to make them feel better when they should be doing drugs like normal people .... at least when they can't solve their problems because that's obviously better .

i know cuz I'm overweight

i often eat just for fun sometimes and say its okay i'll make up for it when i do speed later or start counting calories again ..

That's when I'm asleep. Not just chilling, although to be honest it doesn't change all that much when I am awake and resting.

Mines around 80. And when I workout I have to set a target around 160 or it feels like I'm not really working very hard, even though it says I shouldn't be getting that high for my age. I'll probably drop dead on the treadmill in the near future.

Well, to be honest, I think it's high than most people would sit at. Perhaps I'm misled? Do you know otherwise? Med training?

I was always under the impression most people rest around 60bpm once they get into adulthood. Mine is sitting 30% higher than that.

Assuming you're 18-25 you're below average but not terribly so. Though 70 to 80 is a pretty broad range...

I'm 27, no medical conditions, BP is good. I'm gunna have a  guess that it's some where like 125/70 or something like that. Every time I get it checked the person always comments that it's good.

Yeah. You may just be stressed or insufficiently rested when you're getting those higher 'resting' heart rates.

Of course, once you get to a certain size, you can't even exercise anymore. My Ex's aunt was fucking huge and she kept breaking her legs just because the bones could not support her weight and they would snap.

Which takes us back to the OP, how the fuck do you get to that point? Do you just decide one day "Fuck it, if cookies weren't meant to be dipped in lard, it wouldn't taste so good and I can save so much on my soda bill if I buy it by the 50gallon drum, and ya know what? I think i'm going to try to not stand up once this year, we all need goals." I just.. how???

They eat their feelings. The more isolated they become as a result of their obesity the more they eat. I was 170 in 9th grade. I dropped down to 140. I started gaining it back by eating carbs to cope with stress. Next thing I know I'm almost 300 pounds like "Holy fuck!"

If I hadn't dug myself out of that hole and started losing weight, I'm sure I'd be in the high 300's if not in the 400's by now. I'm 185 now by the way.

little physical activity
eating an insane amount of calories.

i have been bigger since i was a little girl, i was raised by my memaw and she was the type of lady that you didn't leave the table until you finished EVERYTHING on your plate. so I think my habit with food got started way before I had any control of it.

I have lost significant amounts of weight in my life now TWICE.
The first time I was really young, so I don't remember how much I lost. As soon as I started puberty I got big again. 16-17 I lost 85 pounds. I've gained about 30 of that back.

It's a never ending struggle for me. I can't eat how others do without becoming huge. Exercise plays a big role for me too. I have to exercise since I only more or less maintain my weight with a healthy diet.

Increasingly lazy lifestyles with an emphasis on instant-gratification.
See all of the quality of life changes made in the name of convenience, fast food, etc.

We live in a society where a significant portion of people are content to never leave the house and eat 4,000 calories of pure fat per day.
The news isn't all bad, though. Three words: Coronary Heart Disease. Unfortunately, it's pretty slow.

For the past 6-7 years of my life I've been eating once per day and usually no more than 1200 calories at the most ( usually 800 per day ) . Since I started this eating habit I have found my energy level through the fucking roof and it last all day long. Some of you guys are going to think I'm crazy but for around 5 days each month I just won't eat anything at all, just a bunch of water any maybe some apple juice or something else like it. I honestly don't get hungry until around the 3rd day, don't feel lightheaded or any headaches at all.

Maybe once or twice a month I'll eat like a pig, I'll consume around I would say 4k calories in a single day and let me tell you, the days I do this I feel like complete death all goddamn day long. No energy and just depressed, I dread the days I do this. I think the book that got me started on this type of lifestyle was called the warrior diet, I don't follow what the book says all the way but I incorporate other aspects of different eating habits too. Many studies have shown that caloric restriction on a persons lifestyle will extend the persons life, much less likely to develop cancer and also it tends to keep the person looking younger than they are, think of asians. Wow, this turned out way longer than I had planed lol:feelsgoodman:
