Possible black mold on monotub (pics)
    #19393785 - 01/09/14 01:47 PM (10 years, 21 days ago)

I had a jar that I tested some stuff on and it turn into black mold, I did not think of noting and just tossed it right out. Well today I check my monotub and see a nice primordia set coming and I see this spot. Little black spots in this area only. I just coco husk before and I pasteurized  it in jars so its not the husk. Pics:

My opinion is that its noting, Just really need to know for sure, so If it is I can move it out of my grow room.

This tub is around 11 days in to fruiting first flush, If this is mold, What shall I do to make it threw the first flush?
Thanks guys,

:thataintright:

You could try some H202 on the dots, those look like spores from the mold about to spread this might stop it from becoming airborne, prolly not though, I would try it if it were me, then i'd put that shit outside and let the flush finish or bury if it continued to stall..

Definitively get it away from your grow though that ain't right...

That says it's cobweb mold which is good news for you because it's easily treated with H2o2. Bad news is I don't SEE the cobweb so... it might be riddled through the top of the myc.

I've read cobweb is completely treatable. Better wait for some mono pro's to come post.

cant really tell what that is. i wouldnt worry about it. its going to flush. to be on safe side squirt with a 100:1 water/bleach concentration just on that spot. sit back and chill.

someone was right, I think It was cobweb. I flamed sterilized a spoon scooped it right up. (the black part) After I took some h202 & I sprayed some in the thumb. It fizzled immediately but not convinced it is really cobweb.. There is still some h202 on the spot, Should I soak it up or leave it?

Leave it. You probably shouldn't have scooped but it's too late now.

Why not? But okay next time I should make sure if its cool
I'm just trying to get this baby to the first flush, I'm going away for a while & this is the only tub that will give me something before its too late.

You can't cut mold out and you won't kill black pin mold with peroxide.

I'd bury it in a flower bed outdoors as soon as you pick the mushrooms, provided they're already growing. If not, toss it now. Put some salt over any moldy spots that show up between now and harvest.

In the future, remember that attempting to cut out a sporulating mold only spreads it further by releasing all those spores into the air.

Read somewhere that scooping an area like that makes the myc in that area weaker to more contamination.

If it was cobweb you just needed some H202, even with the worste of contams you don't scoop you just isolate the tub and let the flush happen , harvest, then bury the remains.

EDIT: Well according to RR, it spreads that shit all over the place, but he said it's pin mold so since the tub isn't pinning looks like it's no good.

Tub is pinning without a thought. Should of see if it was okay first to scoop but damn its depressing when RR facepalms your mistakes....
:unwanted:
But yeah, Thanks guys for the help I'll update if this turns into anything useful to post.
