Whole lotta knot-thing
    #19392920 - 01/09/14 10:01 AM (10 years, 22 days ago)

In the development of my straw tek, I have the extreme development
Of primordia and there are tons of them, but no pins. What can I do to get them going or is this just a stage? Been this way for about a week now

Constant FAE and evaporation off the substrate via mist then fan.

Edit: The mushies do what they want, when they want to do it. All we can do is give them what they need.

Lets wait for someone else to chime in but I'm like 99% sure all you can do is just keep up with what they need. Constant FAE and evaporation off the substrate.

Edit: There maybe something else I'm missing.

So do you think I should remove the plastic I have around it? I thought maye holding moisture around it and being pretty much over the humidifier may help with the evap/misting

I would put it in a real FC from the start. With this idk. I don't think the humidifier blowing directly on the substrate itself is good for it. If I read your last post right.

Like I said besides a proper FC or GH and the 3 basic needs there isn't much else you can do.
You can't put it in a mono tub or something maybe the 2 liter FC? Otherwise go poke around the edibles section see how they fruit those giant logs. OR wait for someone else to put their 2 cents in.

that doesn't look healthy, focus more on fae and not so much on humidity, my gh's barely ever have any condensation

It's fully colonized and I regularly add h2o2 to the water in the humidifier. Temp is~77 and humidity is around 90-95. Air is super clean I have multiple ionizing units in my house along with that chamber having it's own scrubber in the same room. The "log" is in a 2 liter clear plastic casing.

I swear it's on straw lol. Think putting an ionizer in there will help with exchanges?

:whathesaid:

I'm just getting started switching to mono's, but I started the hobby with a GH and had some good grows in that thing, and it never had as much moisture built up as I see in yours. You have any slits in it? Or do you keep the flap partially unzipped?

I put two long slits down each side of mine (4 slits total) and kept a cool mist in there. What type of humidifier are you using?

I'm keeping it open with an ionizer.
The temp and humidity are relatively the same.
I'm just thinking the more water I have available to it the more it may fruit massively/have giants coming off of it.
Any advice is really welcome

It's a Vicks with a dual setting, I'm guessing it has an element in it (steam evap)

That could be part of your problem, I know steam vaps aren't usually recommended for GH because they can cause excessive condensation, I'd personally recommend a vicks impeller/cool mist humidifier.  If it's too wet in there with no FAE you'll most likely grow mold and bacteria before you grow fruits.

I guess if that's your only option put it on a timer and figure out where it dials in best for you, maybe on 15 mins, off 1 hr.  Just keep tinkering around until you get it where you're humidity stays between 90-100%  consistently and you're GH isn't dripping water everywhere.  Do you have a hygrometer in there?

:2cents:  Maybe a more experienced grower will be able to help you further; but regardless, if possible, get a cool mist in there. I started with an ultrasonic and finally picked up a cool mist at a thrift store on the cheap, and in my experience, it was much easier to dial it in with the cool mist.

Yes I have a combined thermo-hygro. Air exchanges seem to keep down the water accumulation, still I can't determine whether or not it's fully colonized, confused or just waiting. There are no bad spots on the log itself, and that chamber is sanitary enough to eat out of. I add peroxide to my water. I may just go get some perlite and put it in there. Only issue past that is temp if I take out the unit I have in there now.
