SGFC to GH with humidity controller
    #19384046 - 01/07/14 05:52 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Thanks to all the great info I've found searching the forums, I have been  very successful with cakes in a SGFC.  Been about two years with this method.  I just set up a mini green house and working on getting it dialed in.  If I can only figure out how to wire this 110V digital humidity controller.  http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009VY1ANM/ref=pe_385040_30332190_TE_M3T1_ST1_dp_1

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone and the forums for all the good info!

Ok...got the digital humidity controller wired up and running in my mini greenhouse!  Thing is pretty sweet.  I'm using a Vicks humidifier model v4450.  I got the humidity controller set at maximum 99% and for it to kick back on when the humidity drops to 90%.  Only problem, my humidifier only gets the GH to 97% even with the zippers zipped up.  97% is good humidity but the humidifier is still going to run 24/7, just like before I hooked up the humidity controller....haha

i reset it to a high of 97% and for it to start back up when it drops to 93%.  Seems to be working!  This humidity controller is the tits!

not yet...just got cakes in there right now.  had a bunch of jars that just finished colonizing so I wanted to get this GH dialed in first with cakes before I try anything bigger!

As you can see, I had to wire the controller up and mount it in a box.  The humidity controller is actually made for a computer server rack...so I had to wire in a power cord and a receptacle so I could plug in my humidifier.  The thing is really sensitive and works great!

bastahd ya stole my idea.  ;]  good work.

you see the thermostatic controller they make just like that humidity controller?  i was thinking of combining the two into an insulated greenhouse to keep temps higher than the 60s as they are in a basement or cold house in winter.  also, it has a cooling circuit which could maybe be used for a blower for fresh air.

Thanks!

Actually the one I have is both humidity/temp controller in one.  It came with the temp sensor wired in but I removed it, no need for it.

You want your RH to be a little lower than that, actually. Around 85-90% is good, and you also want it to drop a couple times per day to allow for evaporation and good pinsets.

Hmm, interesting.  I read a post last night that RR said mid 90's is what you want in a GH.

Im curious...in a SGFC we want as close to 99% as we can get, but not with a GH?

oh man, you got my hopes up.  it's a sensor, but not a controller.  that is, it can't relay to a heater to control the temp, it just monitors temp.  be a lot cooler if it did.  thanks for the diagram.
