Using a bubble stone in a shotgun tek FC
    #19388631 - 01/08/14 03:10 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Hiya every-body! I recently set up a regular Shotgun-style FC just like the one's Roger Rabbit demonstrated. However. I have an extra fish pump with a bubble stone I had left over from another...erm...hydroponic activity I do.

I was wondering if it would be effective to place that bubble stone (It's 12 inches, and fits the length of my FC very well) below the perlite layer (I've got three inches deep) and having a sealed hole from the bottom leading to the pump. Would it help with gas exchange, or is it a waste of power?

Somewhat different topic, I've also heard of people putting a small airstone in a glass of water and running it into the FC. While I do not do this, I was wondering if that's even a valid technique.

SHOOT!

So it won't really help the frequency of exchange at all? Roger that. Thank you.
