50 Awful Things About The Illuminati (by Steve Jackson)
    #1938651 - 09/21/03 07:15 PM (20 years, 6 months ago)

Yes, this is the same guy that made the Illuminati: New World Order card game we've been discussing. Here are some of the points he makes in his list

2. The Illuminati infiltrate and take over organizations of all kinds, from churches to the post office to the corner grocery store, and turn them to their own ends

3. And, just as a black joke, some of their subject organizations advertise themselves as Secret Societies.

15. They control the news media, so you hear what they want you to about today's news. Any event that doesn't fit in with their program will be quickly hushed up.

16. In particular, they control television. They don't permit intelligent shows to survive; they encourage mind candy that will keep people from thinking. The only reason good shows are permitted to appear at all is to convince intelligent people that nobody else likes such material, and that there must be something wrong with them.

18. Likewise, the entire "energy crisis" is an Illuminati invention. There's no shortage of energy, of a dozen different kinds, but plentiful free energy might threaten the Illuminated power base.

27. They are working to make the law as confusing as possible, so everything will be illegal or potentially illegal -- then they have a hold on everybody and everyone will fear the laws.

37. Naturally, they discourage investigation of the strange and unusual, because it might lead to them. But they encourage people to joke about the Illuminati.

39. And they encourage the craziest pseudo-science "researchers" they can find, because this tends to discredit legitimate investigators into the unusual.

49. They start chain letters. They also plant rumors that the Red Cross can buy an iron lung if you send them a million cigarette packages, and that dying children in England want ten million business cards. No one knows why they do this.

These statements range from the very plausible and probable, to the silly and ridiculous end of the spectrum such as

20. And some of them are in touch with aliens from outer space. Some of them ARE aliens. Why would "advanced beings" want to meddle with the affairs of Earthlings? Good question.

45. They have a variety of unhuman and inhuman servants. The dreaded Men in Black are perhaps their best-known agents. No one knows whether the MIBs are androids, golems, or something even worse. Perhaps they were once human...

You know, I have a feeling this Steve Jackson was a pretty funny guy.

There's no way in hell this list was meant to be taken as anything but a joke.

Look at this:

"49. They start chain letters. They also plant rumors that the Red Cross can buy an iron lung if you send them a million cigarette packages, and that dying children in England want ten million business cards. No one knows why they do this."

That's comedy gold right there.

"16. In particular, they control television. They don't permit intelligent shows to survive; they encourage mind candy that will keep people from thinking. The only reason good shows are permitted to appear at all is to convince intelligent people that nobody else likes such material, and that there must be something wrong with them. "

This stuff is hilarious, care to post the whole list?

The entire list is available for your reading pleasure at the link I provided above. Glad you enjoyed it  I don't buy some of that stuff either, yet other points he makes I could see totally happening (ie. fake energy crisis).

The impression I get from that link is that the list is part of the documentation for the game, to establish a backstory, and not meant to be real.

This is the page the link to that list is on, the other articles are all collected bits of humour from around the internet. I'm sure it wasn't meant to be taken seriously.

well I can't argue with that, the list is on the game promotion website so yea, I will stand down on that point. I will just say one thing with all the Illuminati conspiracies aside, you are naive if you think there aren't super rich people manipulating the world around you for their own ends.  I bet you had good friends who "screwed you over" for their own benefit, major corporations use sweat shops to make an easy profit, now imagine extremely rich people who have influential power and an apetite for more, then all of a sudden "Illuminaiti-like" societies trying to control the events in this world aren't really a far fetched idea.

Edit: By the way, I like your personal site, those drawings are super cheesy

There are certainly rich people with influence, but the idea that one group has control over the entire world is pretty ridiculous for a variety of reasons.

In order to run a group like the Illuminated you'd need god-like skills of negotiation, and the ability to pull off even the wildest and most far fetched plan perfectly.

I've never seen a government or group that doesn't make huge fuck ups, or accidentally expose its dirty secrets every now and then, and I find it hard to think that the Illuminati would be able to maintain control for hundreds of years without making a single exposing mistake.

That's why the Illuminati are "a well established" myth as you put it, of course they had leaks (be it intentional or not) and that's why so many people are suspecting something about them. Hell, in my own town there is a Masonic Lodge with the whole Illuminati symbolism and shit all over, it's building number is 11 for god sakes! (for those of you who don't get the 11 reference, go to Google and type in sept. 11 attacks and the number 11)

You can have all the money in the world and still make stupid mistakes.

I've yet to see a government that doesn't fuck up in some way on a regular basis.

That's some funny stuff.

So the Illuminati leave little clues about these things like the villains on the Batman TV series?

This is real life, why would anyone do anything so stupid?

The illuminati own the federal reserve bank which controls most of the money in America and the Illuminati symbol is on the American dollar.

...not to mention they control Hollywood, the Military, and the Industrial/Technological complex. They go under many guises.. The Council on Foreign Relations, The Bilderberg Group, The Trilateral Commission, Skull and Bones society, Freemasons, etc, etc.. all different branches of the same group. They control the money, the wars, the media, and whatever else they can get their hands on. The Illuminati does not control all the money in america, it's all over the world. "The Illuminati", is the collective of all the wealthy elite across the world in these various secret and not so secret organizations. World hunger exists because they want it to. Third world countries are third world countries because they'd rather see them dead. Money, power, population control, and citizen control, are their only concerns. Their 'new world order' plan, the master plan of the Illuminati.. is to establish a one world government, in a cashless society (read:credit), in which all citizens could be monitored at any time.

From The Straight Dope:

"Dear Cecil:

Why does the U.S. dollar bill have the image of a pyramid with an eye in the capstone? Someone told me that it has something to do with a shadow society that secretly rules the country. If they're so secret why would they be so obvious about their insignia? I want the straight dope--that is, unless they've gotten to you too. --Jason K., Scarborough, Ontario

Cecil replies:

They haven't. Ticks me off. Why should guys from the dailies get all the payola? As for the apparent paradox of a secret society advertising itself in one of the world's most conspicuous places, some say that's the beauty of it. The conspirators are geniuses, see? They know that the more they make themselves obvious, the more they'll be invisible. If that sounds like a classic line of malarkey--bud, you're starting to catch on.

As you know if you've read the fine print, what you see on the back of a dollar bill is the great seal of the U.S., established by Congress on June 20, 1782. The official interpretation is that the pyramid represents strength and durability. It's incomplete because so is the work of building the nation. The eye in the triangle is the all-seeing eye of providence.

What makes the story interesting is that the eye and pyramid have links to Freemasonry. The eye, for example, is said to be a symbol of the Great Architect of the Universe, i.e., God. The symbolic significance of the pyramid and the eye were well known to educated folk of the 18th century, and one may argue that the Masons and the designers of the seal were merely drawing on a common fund of symbolic meaning. But what if . . . one pauses pregnantly . . . there's more to it?

Due to incomplete records, nobody knows exactly how many of the founding fathers were Masons. But there were quite a few, including George Washington, Ben Franklin, and possibly Thomas Jefferson. Franklin and Jefferson were on the committee assigned to design the great seal. This group produced a design calling for, among other things, an all-seeing eye. While the eye was cool, the design otherwise was pretty feeble, and the job wound up getting dumped on the secretary of the Congress, Charles Thomson. Thomson enlisted the aid of Philadelphian William Barton. The two cooked up the scheme we have today, incorporating the all-seeing eye plus a pyramid, because everybody liked the idea of Egyptian symbolism.

It's not known if Barton and Thomson were Masons, and judging from surviving correspondence there's no indication a Masonic connection crossed anybody's mind at the time. But it's crossed lots of minds since. Theories range from Nuts to Really Nuts to Grounds for Immediate Commitment. Joseph Campbell, in The Power of Myth, proposed a wacky but basically genial interpretation that works in Solomon's Seal and the Pythagorean tetrakys and Egyptian folklore. Upshot: the seal is a symbolical representation of democracy. Fine as far as it goes, but lacking the essential element of paranoia. For this we turn to the religious right, which sees the eye and pyramid as evidence of a Masonic plot (by George Washington!) to destroy Christianity.

And then, of course--you knew I was getting to this--there's the Illuminati connection. As you know from our previous discussions of this subject, the Illuminati are the grand cabal behind everything, including, some think, weird stuff on money. The question is, who's behind the Illuminati? Wise individuals, I venture to say. Indeed, we may characterize them as wise guys. I'm thinking of Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea, who in the mid-70s wrote the conspiracy satire Illuminatus!, which has become a cult classic. Wilson et al have been shoveling baloney about the Illuminati/eye on the pyramid/world-domination conspiracy for more than 20 years, and some credit them with single-handedly keeping the thing alive. At the risk of belaboring the obvious, it's a joke intended to separate hip folk (who get it) from right-wing losers (who don't). So Jason, let me ask you. You think it's real?

--CECIL ADAMS"

the illuminati wishes they controlled the freemasons.

in reality, they are two separate groups.

in the behind the scenes struggle for global dominance, there are two forces.  the evil material and the good spiritual.

certain political and technological organizations fall into the former category - the "illuminati"

freemasons, qabbalists, mystics and certain scientific and occult organizations fall into the latter category.  they have no name because they are not organized, and yet they fight for a common cause in their own individual way.

masonic history is especially interesting because there was a split in the origional bavarian organization a looooong time ago.  one side went into politics and economics, the other went into the occult.

true masons, like true jews, are not part of the illuminati, and in fact fight against it.

of course none of this is true and its all for entertainment purposes only

I regard all information I come accross on this subject as a study of anthropology and mythology, just like the occult   what I believe is none of your business, and its probably all just paranoid delusion anyway so dont get too antsy about people over your shoulder.

people may try to control other people, this has happened all throughout the course of history, but they don't make the sky blue or the graas green.  that shit happens on its own.  those fascists can kiss my ass.

I'm stoned.  good night all.

actually the internet is still relatively free. but eventually it will be co-opted by the large multi-national corporations controlled by the illuminati. it's just a matter of time.

you know how people are always complaining about how dumb TV is, how it's just a vehicle for mass cultural programming? well, I see the internet moving in the same direction. places like the Shroomery are an exception... the illuminati doesn't like independent thought and I wouldn't be surprised if their agents are already here.
