Career as palm reader, tarot card reader?
    #19388511 - 01/08/14 02:47 PM (10 years, 22 days ago)

I was thinking recently, if you've ever been to New Orleans, in one part of town you may know there always about a dozen or so tables set up with people reading palms, and doing tarot cards, and all that stuff. I don't remember how much they charged, but I believe it was like $15 for most people, others charged closer to $20. Anyway, say you get two customers and hour, that's 40 fucking bucks an hour on a good day. As long as your fine with sitting out in the sun for long periods of time, it seems like it'd be a cool job. I don't believe in the paranormal, but you know if other people do, that's their business. I'm just playing on their ignorance. And then a lot of people dontbelieve in it, but they get their palms read and shit when theyre in NOLA just as a fun little thing to do on vacation you know. just have to learn to 'rea'palms and tarot cards and shit, get real good at it. maybe even dress really eccentrically. make it fun lol

It is difficult to do this right... and many things to concider.. else you'd wind up like Ellid Dee... though.. if you are in a position to actually be able to read tarotcards or things like that.. you wouldnt really need them...

Another term for these people is "scam artists".

I dunno, my wife believes everything her psychic tells her. I'm more of a WTF... really?

I sometimes don't know what to say when she tells me about spirits and shit. Although she does tarot cards for her friends and relatives for free and it has helped a few of them with some readings.

I think that the shit is so vague that it can be interpreted to whatever you are going through.

BUT, on the other hand she has had a perfect 9/9 record in predicting gender for her pregnant friends. She sees the child in dreams and tells the mom the day after if it is a boy or girl. We've been together 10 yrs so I know its not bullshit. Usually in the first 3 months of pregnancy.

She also told me before we had kids that she would have a girl first, then a boy. Yup

I'm kinda on the fence about it all...

"Digging up the dead with a shovel and a pick. It's a job! It's a job!"
--Tom Waits

Fuck it, why not. If there is a market for it, and people are willing to give their money away. It's not like you are going out of your way to scam little old ladies out of all of their pension money at their retirement homes.

If the marks come to you basicly begging to give you their dollars why not oblige them?
I don't find it any worse than owning a convience store that also sells lottery tickets.

While you're also aiming for ambitious heights, consider a job cleaning toilets or in customer service.

At least those are honest... unless you do Comcast customer service.
