The Vapor said: Well look at like a deadlift in powerlifting. They don't lower the weight back to the floor, they just bring it to a lock out then drop it. For bodybuilding you want to be in control the whole time yeah, but maxing out and absolutely going for your 1RP is a pretty infrequent thing.
Deadlift included. Lock, then lower while mirrorring the form for the lift in reverse. 1RP, insignificant as it may be, didn't count if you dropped back then.
I do that for all my regular lifts yeah, but taking it to failure means that sometimes the weight isn't going to get lowered perfectly. Agree to disagree I guess.
Yeah pretty much, if I'm going to failure, I'm not always able to just set them down nice. I don't drop them so hard the weights fly all over the place, or to bend the dumbells. Bent dumbells piss me off.

drop weights all you want sooner or later there's going to be a pretzel on the floor and your going to be in it looking like an asshole or even worse have a broken toe
you should feel great about getting the weight up that the last thing you want to do is drop it
same with squats I've seen a picture of a guy that was literally round like a street fighter character under 950lbs of weight
they didn't take the picture because he unracked the thing

I ignore everyone and do my own thing in the gym. The only way I mock someone is if they are doing something obscenely retarted or annoying.
So unless you're doing that I'd say you're probably just imagining things.
As for all the squat talk, there isn't really a proper way persay just what works best for you. My squat only improved when I accepted that and quit doing shit that didn't work just because someone said it was the right way.

There are better ways to work out the things you want, instead of standing there moving up and down like you're getting reemed

alright fuck it... i can probably do 2 miles in 8 minutes than be burnt.. I've never tried it... but based on my performance I know I can do atleast 2.... I have a daily routine and I've never tried to burn my energy up fast to test myself.. One day ill have to because that's what it takes to see what you can do inorder to improve...
all i want to do is win a ton of half marathons... its gonna sound dumb but why do so many people enter full or half's knowing they don't stand a chance... first of all it costs money and secondly you'll go in noticed if you're place is so far behind... unless you really really want marathon experience... but you can do that anytime weather permitted, for free...without the risk of embarrassment

I'm skeptical about anyone's claimed running time without reason to believe them, met so many people who will just say anything.
For myself I wouldn't run in any public race win or lose, but a lot of people want to do it for the group experience more than anything. Its an event

Well, depending on what you're trying to get out of it, sure.

people run marathons at a really slow pace, i think your chances of real embarrasment would be low. my goal is to run one in under 7 minute miles, im not quite there yet tho.
also if you can do 2 miles in 8 minutes you're already a fairly elite long distance runner lol

the thing is... 2 miles isn't long distance... i don't even begin to break a sweat until 1.5 miles at a 9 mile per hour pace... Long distance (to me) is at mile 10 than I'm pretty much done at that pace...
I know I could do 2 miles in 8 mins if I can do 10 miles in an hour... But once I hit 2.0 I'd be done for the day..
Maybe ill post a video of my results for proof..If i ever decide to waste a day of running to do it..
