Dunking Process, why and when?

I've been lurking these forums for a few weeks now. I've read a couple guides as well.
There seem to be differing opinions on the Dunking process. Some say do it, some say don't do it. The Pf tek guide says to dunk with vermiculite, then dunk without vermiculite? I am super confused about exactly when you dunk and then don't dunk in that guide, when do you remove the vermiculite?
And yes I've read the other dunking posts, but I'm still extremely confused about the "flushing" process
Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!

wait 1 week after it'scolonized and remove the top layer and rinse, then dunk it fully submerged for 24 hour, then rinse well and roll the cakes in dry verm and place in your sgfc and wait an hour or so before misting, this will help your verm stick, also get a fine grade verm for best results flushing is simply harvesting and dunking again(no roll this time)and putting it back into fruiting

and yes you should always dunk don't listen to those who say don't! mushroom size is dependent on genetics and available moisture

Do you do 24hr for each subsequent dunk and how many flushes is max you can achieve or does it vary on cake size etc?

Yes you dunk for 24 hours each time. And flushes can vary quite a bit there's no set number that you're going to get.
