About Storing Spent Mycelium?

I have six spent PF Tek cakes that I got 3-4 flushes from and a total of 300g wet. I put them individually in zip lock bags and have stored them in a cool place for about three weeks now.
I plan to use them to spawn to horse poo and verm. I'm assuming they are just fine to use after such storage. Is this true?
How long could I store my spent mycelium and respawn?
Or should I man up, take a tissue sample of my favorite looking mushrooms and put it on agar and store agar plates instead?
I like the idea of storing a large amount of spent mycelium as I can go straight to substrate and not have a time consuming spawn run. Hard to manage without roommates knowing what is going on in my closet and finding time to process with the house to myself.
p.s. this is a fun hobby. Both the growing AND the voyaging. First mushroom trip last Saturday, at the beach in Astoria in the sun. Amazing.

My guess is that the mycelium is too weak now to do much with. I'm not sure, but I think even after letting it recover for awhile, it would be a bad idea to try to spawn them to anything.

It doesn't make sense to fruit them and then try to colonize more substrate with them. If you want more substrate colonized than what you have now do when the mycelium is still young and vigorous.
