I left my SGFC alone for 5 days on vacation, and nothing bad happened at all, I just had to mist when I got home. Uses no electricity and has no gadgets and cost 10$.

run a 30$ humidifier in the corner of the room that has the SGFC. Sounds like your cakes were already too dry. The RH in my house is so low I shock myself every time I touch the door knob and my clothes feel uncomfortable and that's with the humidifier running. and my SGFC still works, sounds like your cakes were the culprit.

Yeah I had a look. I'm not much of a cake guy but everything in the chamber looks dry, the cakes, the fruits, the pins. Unfortunately you removed the pic from your gallery, so . . .

Well I'm proud that's a hell of a flush on that one cake the others had already flushed by the way when the substrate dries out is what causes pins...so yeah it does look dry

yep it's dry you should be keeping up with your misting, or sitting it in a saucer of water over night that pinset is draining your cakes moisture

yes a saucer of water while it's fruiting to help support the pinset, then you can still dunk afterwards

not really just your cake would be in better shape, they may have been a bit larger and you may have not gotten as many aborts but it's just to ensure you got enough moisture to support that big pinset

Well those don't look to good. They need more RH and misting to support all the pins you surprisingly got.

Yup, substrate maintenance. Mushrooms are 90% water you have to feed them what they ask for.

there's plenty out there to look at. You have a keyboard and a mouse mans most powerful tools to reach the internets.

Dude those are healthy in my opinion ... It was a hell of a flush for one cake n the others did also . If u saturate a cake the way ur talkin with a saucer it will become water logged n them trich sets in or cobweb. Evap causes pins if u mist too much it causes overlay so I don't see we're the criticism is coming from. I haven't seen any cakes as pretty as the one I showed here so I'm pretty sure I'm doin it right. I'm posting a two later. If anyone is tired of failing read my trek n ill have pins like this. I don't do casings yet but I m wrk in on it just haven't had luck with it. But for brf cakes ....this is the way.. Maybe not the only or the best but the pictures say it all for anyone who's done this before..it pays off n I'm pretty satisfied with my results http:// http://

And Aborts...there aren't any snorts just cause there are some with dark pinsdoesn't mean there gonna abort.. Those bloomed out great. I did try ur advice n put them in as saucer n it totally water logged that part of the cake. I'll be lucky if it doesn't contam. I've been doin ths for awhile n my pics say it all ...like I said when the substrate dries they pin .. That's what causes pinning not moisture. I hate to say it but if u don't knw from experience don't giv advise from what u think u might knw or googled. My trek will be up soon anyone who needs help pm me.http://

if you saturtate a cake it won't become water logged it will get to field capacity and it doesn't cause cobweb or trich and no , misting does not cause overlay..nuthing does. i've been growing for ten years so take my advise or don't thats your choice, i just voice my opinion and give you something to research, if you wanna be a stubborn ass go for it. if you wanna learn do some reading, theres lots on here to read. great job on your cakes and good luck in the future

Overlay is something you should completely forget especially with cube cultivation, it's not going to happen. Also like chronicr said how is a cake going to absorb more water than it needs. It's like a sponge it will only take as much water as it can hold. If you have that many pins you're going to want to mist it a assload or put it in a saucer of water. But don't take our words for it we have only done 1000's of PF cakes between us all.

Good. cronicr is a well respected individual round these parts, and he ain't gonna tell you something that ain't true. Dude is a cake genius IMO. Course he knows his bulk as well
Now bulk is something I personally love (I sucked at cakes), and while I'm something of a hack, I do get results Chances are if you could not finish a spawn run, your spawn was bad. Given popcorns high endospore count, combined with its low number of knock points, I gonna say bacterial contams are your issue. Especially since your casing was coir/verm.
Next time, say fuck popcorn and use either rye, wheat, oats, millet, or WBS and get your prep down pat. Do a lot of reading to see what proper moisture content should look like. Inoculate one master and G2G in an SAB to expand. Then instead of casing with coir verm, spawn to it instead, then case if you want. If you still see contams, start using agar to guarantee clean inoculate. You'll see better results then
