Dreams and Psychedelics

I took shrooms for the first time a few months ago. In the days following I felt very spacey. The night after the trip I had one of the most intense dreams I have ever experienced. I believe in some way the psychedelic experience triggered or brought on this dream. Here is what happened in my dream:
I was laying on a giant, round stone that was covered in arabesques. The stone only as high off the ground as the surrounding grass but it was extremely large in circumference. The stone was in the middle of a plain with grassy hills off into the distance. Millions of flowers of every color surrounded the stone. Many people I know sat around me on the stone. An old woman in a cloak approached us and we all go to our feet and lined up. She tapped our foreheads one by one. I remember feeling a great amount of respect for her as she carried this out. After she had tapped all our heads she left and everything was calm. People sat down upon the stone and some started smoking. Suddenly the sky grew dark and millions of yellow and purple butterflies flew down from the sky masking the sunlight. They flew in as a pack and landed in almost perfect unison. They landed on the flowers and on the stone around the others and I. Then after some time they all took off in unison. The colors in the sky as they flew in and took off was overwhelmingly beautiful. As I watched the butterflies fly away I awoke.
Do you think this dream was in anyway brought on or triggered by the psychedelic experience? If so, are dreams of this nature common? After I awoke I remember thinking the dream was extremely important and told many people about it. What do you guys think? If anyone has stories of their own please share!

That's an intensely beautiful dream. I would say it was probably brought on by the mushroom use as I had these bizarre dreams after using mushrooms where it was all pitch black but I was fully conscious and I felt myself be kind of born out of this wondrous being I could sense in the blackness, what was so poignant about it was the sensation of the birth, it was sheerly bizarre, something you couldn't imagine, something completely novel. I guess it was all in the same vein as the strange, magical bizarreness of the mushroom experience, but right on the money in terms of what you'd call 'magical.'
Your mind is a living entity, better termed the psyche. Dreams are living universes.

Nice, I wait for such dreams and sometimes for a long time. But for me they come at any and at unexpected times. I've used a ton of drugs but have found no strong correlation.

Very cool. I enjoy waking up really early about once a week and taking around a 15-25 ug dose of acid then going back to sleep immediately. It produces produces pretty bizarre and abstract visions similar to the dream you described.

Once I took a large dose of mushrooms, two hours after taking them I felt nothing, so I went to bed. I had so many vivid and amazing dreams, and all of the sudden I realized I could control them. It was amazing. Since then I have control over my dreams any time I want. I have lucid dreams at least once a week now, I attribute this entirely to this experience on mushrooms.
