I used to smoke like... One amonth to once a week for like 3 weeks. I now no longer touch them at all and have tripped now. Theoretically, this counts right?

I know two people, friends I grew up with and still friends with, one did shrooms, one did LSD, then after that they pretty much quit doing everything. It has been 20+ years now, what's strange is they seem to like to hang around people smoking pot and tripping.

I introduced a woman who became my girlfriend for awhile to shrooms. We ended up eating some and we ate them about every weekend, Friday, Saturday and Holidays afterwards for almost 6 months. Usually mild doses, a capsule or two. She had been a lifelong alcoholic and was on the verge of losing her well paying professional job when I met her. She used to bring beer or wine over with her at first but after tripping a few times she quit she quit drinking. Over the next several months she lost a lot of excess weight, got a promotion at work, etc. She tried drinking a few times afterwards with friends but just a few drinks would make her feel nauseous. I think she quit smoking after we split up, I smoke like a fiend.

I was just thinking about this the other day. I have been cigarette free for over three months now and I didn't get the real 'motivation' to make the decision not to smoke until I was tripping during the summer and went to go light up. I had a sudden rush of guilt. Thinking about my parents and brother crying over my grave because I just couldn't put those fucking cigarettes down. The effect wasn't immediate. It was slow.  Smoked less and less... finally was down to just half a cigarette every day. My life had started to change in so many positive ways, particularly my wallet.  I was getting way more work done because my work was no longer revolving around my breaks every two hours. I started completing tasks all the way through instead of putting on the brakes to go smoke.

Anyway, going to go fill this out.

This is cool, I actually ripped up my cigarettes the first time I tripped.

I'm a pack a day smoker and I'll smoke 2-3 packs when I trip, pretty much non-stop once I start coming up and peak. While coming down, I smoke much more weed and cigarettes than I would had I not tripped.

Although if it's a stronger trip, half the time I look down and see that the entire thing burned away without me smoking it

I usually cut way back after a trip. However, nicotine while tripping is probably one of the best things in the world. Shamans did it, Science can prove its usefulness too.

While I have almost quit multiple time after trips, I'm one of those people that just loves it. I don't think I will ever quit but cutting back does have its advantages like pot.

Some of my answers about my psychedelic quitting, now exactly 7 1/2 months sgo:

Quote:

Quote:

I had been fed up with being addicted to cigarettes for years. I felt that it was harming my body and mind every single day and yet I was powerless to quit. During psychedelic sessions I am in inner dialoge with an inner voice I consider my "higher self" which guides me in my process of personal an spiritual growth. Months before it had asked me that if it would pick the right moment for me to quit, and then ask me to quit, if I would follow; I promised amidst the psychedelic turmoil that I would.  This inner voice first contacted me in a 2 gram cubensis mushroom trip where it correctly foretold my mother's death from a botched surgery, where it prepared me for what was to come. Since then it comes to me during sessions with psychedelics and dissociatives, and at sober times of significance, and it prepares me for events to come and for new directions in life to take. Bridges to cross were it asks "will you come with me?" and I follow and it it advance in a facet of my personal growth, they are always beneficial steps to take, and always ones I can take when well prepared.

There were times when I asked it "I feel ready now, should I stop?" and it told me: "you can if you want to, but this is not the time that I call on you.".  I had experienced this before with other bridges to cross, so I continued smoking until the time would be right.

Months passed, then the fateful session happened. The Methoxetamine brought me in the same Divine realm it and serotonergic psychedelics always bring me, my innermost self, in silence and darkness. There, revelations unfold which are almost every single time breathtakingly awesome in spiritual and personal relevance. Dissociated from the external world and cast into my inner world I soared through a mindscape of everything related to me smoking. My first cigarette stolen from my moms pack, quit attempts, times of being without tobacco, the joy of nicotines rush, the depravity of having quit and hours later retrieving the pack from the trash and smoking one more, it all got spiritual, archetypal and eternal dimensions.  Then my "Higher Self" cut into the vision and lovingly said: "*firstname*, it is time, will you come with me?" (I get tears in my eyes as I write this) I said "Yes, I will come with you." and instead of fear for quitting I felt intense relief that the time had come.  It explained to me it was making changes in me that made smoking a thing of the past, and I let it happen while it lovingly prepared and instructed me.  Then I staggered to the toilet, said my goodbyes to the tobacco and flushed it, and threw my rolling papers etc away. I felt the change had occurred in me.  To my utter amazement, and completely contrary to any quitting attempt previous, it was painless. There was no craving, because my mind was made up, the switch had been flipped, quitting was a nonevent, there were hardly any symptoms.  Smoking addiction is actually 99% a psychological thing, gum and patches and ecigs really are nothing but crutches for a mind that isnt fully made up to handle the decision that has been made. Nicotine withdrawal can trigger memories of smoking but it cannot give you cravings. Nothing can make you want something but you, and if YOU do not want tobacco, there will be no craving, none, just neutral memories of smoking that grow less and less.

Survey people: traditional psychedelics trigger the 5HT2A receptor, dissociatives like Methoxetamine work mostly on NMDA and the addiction cure Ibogaine is all over the place receptorwise. What is important in relation to breaking Nicotine and other habits is not as much which receptors are activated or blocked, but that these classes of drugs offer you the opportunity to connect with your innermost self, and in that Inner Sanctum life decisions can be made that carry a whole lot more weight than decisions made in more superficial parts of the personality. What happened to me on Methoxetamine could just as well have happened on Mescaline, or on Psilocybin mushrooms, its not as much in the particular pharmacology of the drug as it is in its ability to unhinge your usual perceptions and with it, deprived of familiarity, casting you upon yourself, into your innermost self as the outer superficial layers come apart. Within that core self lies your inspiration, the power to overcome life obstacles, to rise beyond the limitations that your more superficial layers seem to impose on you. Any means of connecting people with their innermost self can open up the potential of Life Change, psychedelics and dissociatives are crude, unsophisticated, but fairly reliable tools to bring this about.

Quote:

The psychedelic offered me change, coached me towards change and then gave me the impuse to change, and this praparation made me mind up so thoroughly that I was going to quit, that all obstacles were cleared to quitting. You tell yourself quitting is hard.  The salespeople of gum, patches and ecigs indoctrinate you that quitting is hard. The Surgeon General insists it is hard. It is not hard. The only thing hard about quitting is cravings and craving related psychosomatic effects, and these arent a property of nicotine, they are a property of not being fully committed to quitting.  When you make the life choice to quit and commit to it, any craving and craving related psychosomatic effects will evaporate and you will experience physical withdraway effects comparable in nuisance value to the common cold. When your mind is made up, you will walk our of Marlboro country with the big grin of a slave who's just been freed from the Morris plantation. Psychedelics did no less and no more for me than connect me to my innermost self, repeatedly, and the inner communication and decision coordination that resulted made me quit.

Psychedelics are such an incredible natural gift specifically because.

If you are a being that is honest with yourself, psychedelics have this incredible ability to simply show you where your hypocrisy is laying dormant within your own psyche.

So if you know that cigarets or anything else negative within your life is detrimental, psychedelics bring these subconscious troubles exponentially closer to your conscious state, and allow you to build a resolve to stop ignoring and instead focus on your existential reality.

I had a very similar experience with alcohol. Link is in my sig. Even thinking about drinking makes me think nausea.  I also went from smoking cigarettes to smoking am e cig.

The thought of drinking or smoking while tripping makes me feel incredible nausea. I smoke like a fiend when I don't trip. As soon as I feel any boomers, it's like mother natures twisting my lungs and stomach saying "I dare ya" almost as if the mushrooms don't want me to kill myself with cigs hahah

QFT!!!

I finally quit well over a year ago, but the 1-2x per year I trip I make sure and buy a pack

The only thing that will make you quit smoking is willpower.  Maybe psychedelics can give you that.

I once tripped with a man who literally kept a burning cigarette in his mouth the entire night. The memory always strikes me as quite amusing even to this day.

What a coincidence! I just kicked my nicotine habit 11 days ago, helped by a planned session of moderate psilocybin consumption. In fact, the whole ordeal was inspired by a lecture by Albert Garcia-Romeu (OP?) from this years Psychedelic Science (found on the MAPS Youtube channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/mapsmdma).

The process has so far been going smoothly, and with a minimum of discomfort. It is with great joy that I now consider myself a non-user of nicotine, after more than 10 years continuous dependence.

My wholehearted gratitude goes out to the Hopkins team for casting light on the effectiveness of this method, to the community for spreading valuable wisdom and to nature for providing us with these healing creations.

The survey is being completed as we speak.
