Throw away or eat?

Hi all, first time grower here. Would you eat mushrooms that grew out of this cake? The cake was pretty heavily shaken earlier (fell from a bookshelf), so I assumed all the blue/black would be bruising. The cake smells nice and mushrooms seemed to be ok (very small thou).

Should probably get some foil under those.. Is that a rye cake? Looks pretty intense. If it smells good chances are its brushing..
Again though I'd wait for trusted cultivator or post in the contamination forum.

Also if your doing a sgfc you might want to fix that up. I only see one hole and it has tape on it.

Mushrooms will be fine. Substrate looks like it needs a good dunk. I don't think there's any mold on it, just massive bruising. Is that cake just made of whole grains?

Should of left them in bags if you wanted to fruit like that. I'm assuming you used bags based on that shape though.

That would certainly explain the bruising. Grains dry out fast like that.

OK, thanks!
I used popcorn seeds in a plastic box. I have a sgfc but had some problems with humidity, so I used tape to shut some of the holes. That way humidity went up to 95%. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time for tlc. I have moved on from this experiment, but just wanted to ask if the mushrooms are edible. Hopefully next try goes a little better.
Thanks again,

As Kizzle stated grains by themselves will need a casing to prevent loss of moisture. A properly built and maintained shotgun with thoroughly soaked and drained perlite should maintain the correct humidity on it's own. Are you sure it's not just your hygrometer? Cheap and made in china?

Thanks again,
get that thing off the perlite, dunk it, put it in your sgfc after removing the tape and simply mist when the surface starts to dry up,as the moisture from your mist evaporates you constantly have 100% humidity on the surface where it mattters ost and where your made in china hygrometer can't measure, focus more on fae and less on humidity and you will do fine

I never did dunk mine, straight from the sub straight with vermin casing, ultrasonic cool mist maker, temp: 83f, humidity, 23percent. Been in and out on daily routin, humidity isn't constant, is this the reason it bruises? I will adjust setting for 99percent humidity, Cold weather out here.
