The other day I was soaking grains overnight to use and some how I missed a jar, and now they have been soaking for about 4 days now. They stink pretty bad. I don't know if thats just how they smell after days soaking or if its bacteria or what, and while it's not a big deal to toss them, I'd hate to waste them if they can be PC'd and salvaged!

Bacteria will actually make more endospores if left too long in soak

Compost them if you can. They'd probably be great for that.

Yep when I first started I would do my birdseed for like 3 days. (gross) Most would work, but was hard to get them to not clump, and I would rinse them before the simmer. They would smell like shit and colonize slow too.
Now I do like 8hrs with rye. If I had to go longer than that I would put them in the fridge and change the water out every so often.

Correct me if im wrong but bacteria don't make spores they split and your thinking of molds. Also if the grains are holding together and not falling apart and mush from pc I would try it no point in wasting it something tells me if it meets that standered it would be fine.
