Liquid(?) Agent That Hardens Durably... please advise

So... I was angry and bashed two fist-sized holes in my cheap Ikea desk yesterday. It's 3-ply: a top layer, middle honeycomb cardboard filler layer, and a bottom layer. Bottom layer's intact, top and middle are muffed. But the holes are basically divots that can be filled.
The question is what to use. Something that will harden strong and relatively flat. Concrete would be my last resort. An epoxy resin of sorts?
Here's a fucking picture:

Min-Wax makes a 2 pt epoxy that would work for you nicely. You can find it at any lumber/hardware store for fifteen, twenty dollars. The best thing is that it is quick. You can mix it, fill the space, leaving it a little higher than the surrounding surface. Let it harden for fifteen minutes or so and shave the excess off with a razor.
With a hole that size I'd build it up a layer at a time.

Will that $20 get me enough to fill both holes? What kind of epoxy is it?

I think I know what he's talking about, and if I'm right, yeah it should.

I bet he just wants full utilization of his desk.
