I thought Conor had a legit shot to finish the fight in the first when he looked like he hurt Dustin, but he didn't pounce on the opportunity. Was surprised he didn't press harder.

That's what he was saying.. he didn't adjust quick enough.
I'm not making any excuses for mcgregor, but my wife and I noticed something on his way out to the ring.. our guess, he was fighting with his wife..
If you watch, they both look upset, but she had that real shitty wife bitch face.. they were prob fighting right before which pissed him off and got in his head..
But here's the thing.. and I'll use Khabib as an example..
Khabib had so much going on leading up to the gaethje fight, but once he stepped into the ring, he forgot about everything, put his game face on and performed. After the fight is when he let all those different emotions flow.
Conner could not do that. He was stuck in his head and that's what cost him the fight.
This is why mcgregor does not deserve the title. To become a champ you must overcome the fight inside and outside of the ring.
Who knows, maybe he will get his shit together and regroup. It would be cool to see the old mcgregor come back with a vengeance and dominate. I'd love to see ferguson come back as well.

Yea, I thought Conor was going to finish him. In the presser, Dustin said he was hurt and if Conor put the pressure on him, he woulda been in trouble.

What are you smoking? McGregor "washed up?" The dude has had an inconsistent career since winning the lightweight belt. Besides his pursuit of double champ status, he's always picked paydays and business-orietned glory over an actual MMA legacy. At 32 and without ton of a cumulative MMA mileage (as far as we know), his success as a contender is contingent on him training smart and utilizing his legit fight IQ.
Also, TKO, my ass. Conor McGregor was completely out from those last few of Dustin's punches.

Interesting analysis... I must have missed that. I remember seeing his fiance crying when he got out of the Octagon. I assume his loss might probably made emotions run high for his loved ones.

The tabloids are all saying that his fiance was consoling him with the images and embrace that I saw... https://www.thesun.ie/sport/mma/6458986/conor-mcgregor-dee-devlin-ufc-257-dustin-poirier/
This talk of an immediate rematch is, quite frankly, simply the influence and power of Conor McGregor at play, and I fucking hate it. It degrades any semblance of MMA being a sport. Immediate rematches should be for close, controversial title fights or non-title fights that end early with no contest.
But this is entertainment business WAAAAAAY before it is an actual structured sport. And the paydays and PPV sales make an immediate rematch a strong possibility. :sigh:
I parrot the other armchair matchmakers:
Oliveira vs. Poirier or Khabib for title McGregor vs. Gaethje or Ferguson (or even Holloway) Chandler vs. one of the above three Holloway possibly give another go at lightweight (he seems into it).
Given the ranks and hype being each fighter, nobody can deny those aren't incredible, deserved match-ups.
I would like to see Oliveira or Poirier attempt to build a legacy as champion. Not these goddamn money fights where they make meaningless BMF belts and shit.

UFC smoking crack if they think people will buy this pay per view.
It's got a weaker card than most fight nights, is headlined by a pressure wrestler (and probably the least loved champion), AND they just raised the price to $70.
I hope it's good, but it's fucking insulting as a fan when they don't stack a PPV card.

I'm not watching it and I watch these fights for free. You couldn't pay me to watch it.. well, I mean, you can pay me and I'll watch it, but I won't enjoy it! Unless you pay me to enjoy it.

I didn't watch it last night, but I did watch the usman burns fight this morning.. burns came in strong in that first round, but something lit a fire in usman which abled him to dominate.. that first big right hit on burns definitely paved the way..
There's also a lot of big talk right now.. Nate diaz.. olivera and chandler.. poirier and mcgregor 3... There's talk of getting ferguson back out there since he's still ranked.. and did I read a job jones come back? Dude... Let's not forget holloway either..
2021 better be an explosive year.. let's just hope that white pulls his head out of khabibs ass.. it would be great to see Khabib come back, but if he does, he will. Nothing white says at this point will get him back.. the guy is currently enjoying life outside the ufc.. let him vacation a bit.

Yea, Burns looked like a game opponent early but by the end of it Usman looked like his big brother. I didn't like Usman calling out Masvidal. Usman beat all the top dogs and Masvidal would be a payday for him so I get it, but I'd rather see the Colby rematch because Colby's fight was a lot closer than Masvidal's and he's won after losing to Usman. Masvidal punched Leon Edwards backstage in 2019. Leon deserves the chance to fight Masvidal and winner of that fight vs Usman/Covington makes sense to me.
There was this prelim fight between Anthony Fluffy Hernandez and Rodolfo Vieira. Viera was undefeated and being hailed as the best grappler to have ever walked the earth. Hernandez tapped him out. It was amazing.
The next ppv is stacked and has 3 title fights. Jan/Izzy, Nunez/Anderson, Yan/Sterling. Islam Makhachev is fighting for the first time in over a year against a legit dude named Drew Dober. Thiago Santos and Domick Cruz are fighting again. You can go on and on with who's on this card. It'll be a good one.

The prelims have been bangers so far and the main card is so stacked. It's a good night to be a UFC fan.
