Actually getting pretty excited for this Porier vs McGregor fight. If I'm Dustin, I wrestle the first round. I would refuse to let Conor knock me out while he's fresh and dangerous.

Can't get KO'd on the ground or clinch. Conor will slow down and tire significantly after 1 hard round of clinch work.

It's not a Secret that he's a 10 minute fighter. He's pretty damn good at getting people to exchange with him during those initial moments but I think Dustin is smarter than that.

I dunno, mam.. I think connors team rewrote his script after being humiliated by Khabib. Connor has 2 sides, people that stand behind him and people that cannot stand him. Either way you lean, neither party can deny his skill.

Taking connor to the ground can be and will be dangerous. I'm also guessing his endurance and stamina levels have also risen significantly.

Dustin vs. connor is going to be a great fight and are damn near close to being equally matched, but I will be standing behind Mcgregor. My only concern is there will be no crowd. He feeds off that crowd. Mcgregor is a showman.

Conor is going to lose and then run off to box Pacquiao and retire with more money than any UFC fighter ever made. Poirier has improved a lot since the first match and has way more tools to use.

Yeah, I don't know, man. Also, did I read somewhere that there will be an actual crowd for this fight?

White and Khabib recently met.. I'm curious to hear about that. Whites also bringing back diaz. So many good fighters! 2021 is def the year for UFC!

Poirer hasn't been knocked out at 155 and he's taken some big shots in that weight class.  If Conor doesn't KO him within the first 2 rounds, I think Dustin will grind out the win.

I hope I am wrong, but Dustin will most likely lose.  Conor is smart and picks opponents based on their fighting style/vulnerability such as if they've taken more damage than he has recently.  That way he can come out of "retirement" for the 4th time and get his highlight reel win and fat track to a title. He seeks glory and money and should never been in the GOAT conversation ever.

Khabib said after his last fight that he promised his recently widowed momma that the Justin Gaethje fight would be hist last.  So one of two things is true:
1) He is a liar.  Made no promise.
2) He breaks his promises to his grieving mother.

Either way, what a dick.

Absolutely not.  Holloway did not ankle pick Calvin Kattar, did not hit him with his ear.

Maybe his mother got over her grief and told him it was ok to fight again?

To assume those are the only two possibilities and cast judgement is silly. Khabib is a man of principle and I got mad respect for him because of it.

I've never liked how Conor picks and chooses his opponents either. I still think UFC needs a better format where every fighter is required to fight a certain number of fights per year and the ones with the best record go into some kind of playoff bracket. The money fight thing gets old quick, I just want to see whoever actually DESERVES to be champion get a shot.

Khabib said he will come back if any of the fighters from the main card impress him. Dana also came out and said the GSP fight is not and will not be a thing.

As far as my ferguson comment, I'm talking about more of the explosive well round attacks along with the neverending stamina..

I'll say it again.. mcgregor will destroy dustin.

It could also mean I was being silly.
But it is also the tale as old as MMA- an emotional post-fight speech is not the time to declare career-changing decisions like retirement.  How many fighters have tearfully placed their gloves in the Octagon only to come back and fight a year or two later?

MMA is such an insane "sport."  I feel like the emotions that come after a big win or less are overwhelming.

Unfortunately injuries/illness make that incredibly difficult.  I would like to see a more structured format.  If Khabib vacates the belt, and ranks don't matter (they really don't), a tournament-style setup for the lightweight belt would be gravy.

That's how a prime Holloway fights.  If you look at his fights prior to Edgar/Volkanovski, he beat most opponents with gas tank and striking with a mix of minor showboating.

As it turns out, we're both wrong.  Dana White is just an absolute fucking liar.

More of his asshole bating tactics to manipulate/disparage fighters.  Same as anytime he says "Nate Diaz/GSP/Jon Jones/etc. doesn't want to fight."  It's total bullshit- they all want to fight.  He's a shitty promoter and an absolute liar.

Khabib actually doesn't want to fight and Dana is saying he does.

I’m looking forward to this card.  I’m rooting for Dustin because a lot of people aren’t giving him a chance.  I’m ultimately indifferent because I’m a fan of them both.  If Dustin gets through the first couple rounds I think he’ll be able to get the job done, but that’s no easy task considering Conor slept him in about 90 seconds in their first fight.  Conor seems to have really took his training seriously so maybe he’ll have the cardio to press Dustin all 5 rounds.  We’re gonna find out.

The narratives after this card will be fascinating regardless of who wins, and that’s not even considering the co-main with Hooker/Chandler.
