Yup. Signed a few hours after my post. Disappointed but it'll be a good fight. Hopefully Tony gets the money he deserves. Defending a interim title is such a joke.
Weird decision considering the economy is shit, so many people are jobless, and bars can't even host the fight. 65 dollars is just too much money for a lot people right now.
Khabib flying off to another country when there wasn't a confirmed location was such a stupid move. "Dana said UAE"... but it wasn't confirmed.. What a moron.

It's a horrible time for the sport and I can't blame Khabib for not taking the fight. Who knows the extent to which it was his chioce, but either way it's incredibly difficult to travel right now. He probably doesn't want to be stuck in the states away from his family indefinitely while at risk of a sometimes fatal virus sweeping the nation.
The fighters cannot conceivably do legitimate fight camps right now because gyms are closed. Probably incredibly difficult to get access to the necessary coaching, sparring partners, and even equipment.

Now Khabib has Ramadan so he won't fight until the end of the year. Hopefully Tony waits and takes the Khabib fight for a 6th time.
Let Conor or Felder fight Gaethje in the meantime to work out the next #1 contender. Tony should get paid for 249 and take a break.

How the fuck did Tony eat so many nasty shots last night? That was insane. Ferguson has probably the strongest chin I have seen in... ever. Joe Rogan hit it right on the head, he is not a normal human being. How many left hooks did he just eat like he was hungry for them?
He legit probably has neurological problems from all of the trauma he was subjected to last night. Although it would never happen, I feel that his team should have thrown in the towel .That little head twitch that was happening right before Herb called it is more than likely a very bad sign for El Cucuy.
Good vibes for his health.

I was initially rooting for Dominick Cruz (for once) because I can't stand Cejudo. But after how much of a crybaby he's been, I'm glad Cruz got finished. And he did get finished. Unless our expectation is that fights end up someone being flatlined, that's a clear cut stoppage.
The ref saved him so he could live to annoy us with his bad commentary another day.

Yep, when I saw that, I was guessing it must be an orbital bone. Usually fighters shake their head like that when their senses are fucked up from a shot.
I was pretty annoyed at the UFC for making this fight (even though it was incredible). Tony Ferguson gets the shaft constantly by the UFC. He never lost his UFC gold.
Khabib and McGregor consistently sit on the sidelines while the rest of the division beats the shit out of each other for interim belts. Then Khabib/McGregor swoop in for their annual fight (if that) and look like heroes triumphantly beating up exhausted fighters with lots of MMA mileage.
It's not just age- MMA mileage is real. Look at Cerrone vs Pettis compared to how they were 7 years ago. They've both received so many beatings since then and they've slowed A LOT.
I hope Ferguson takes a lot of time to heal. He may never be the same after that beating.

This was supposed to be Tyron Woodley's career resurgence, but I think he's done. And there's no shame in that. He's 38 with a bit of MMA mileage and has had a long, successful career.
If he keeps fighting, I can picture him being in a similar boat as Carlos Condit. Lackluster performance after lackluster performance.
And holy fuck, I just looked at Condit's record. He's won two of his last 10.

Even when Woodley was on top, he still flew under my radar. I've been a UFC fan for a long time, but never tuned in specifically to watch him fight. Looks like he's now going to be in the Yoel Romero status where he's not going to be the champ, so now the big up-and-coming fighters will be using Woodley as a stepping stone to boost their ranking.
How are you guys feeling about tonight's fights? There's some decent names on the card but I'm not really creaming my panties over any of the matchups. To me, on paper, it looks more like a "UFC Fight Night" or "UFC on ESPN" kind of card to me, not a PPV. I guess we will find out. I'll still be watching it regardless
And yeah, wtf happened to Carlos Condit and Chris Weidman? They both fell from the top fuckin fast. It's like someone broke their spirit and they can't win anymore. Weidman had that weird loss to Mousasi, but he still didn't look better than his opponents in any of those fights.
I am excited to see Sean O'Malley tonight. I didn't get to see any of his fights while he was getting some hype before he got that suspension. I saw his last fight though at UFC 248 and he looked damn good. I can see why people are talking him up. So that'll be cool to see tonight. And he's actually on the main card. Has there ever been a UFC where 3 out of the 5 fights on the main card were Men's Bantamweight division?
and WTF is up with Cody Garbrandt? He looked soooo fucking good in that win against Dominick Cruz back in 2016 and just hasn't been able to get back to that place. He made a good Dominick Cruz look pretty silly that night, but he's just been getting schooled since then. His last 3 losses by KO/TKO. He seems a little douchey but I would like to see him start fighting like he was in 2016 again.

She was great, did her thing like she always does. It feels almost pointless to watch her fights cause there’s never any doubt that she’s gonna win. That guy betting a million fuckin dollars on her so he could win $166K
But How about those two knockouts from the Bantamweight division? Don’t see that often. Both O’Malley and Garbrandt’s knockouts looked like something you’d see from a heavyweight. Straight up put those dudes to sleep. The face on Garbrandt while he was winding up
And Both of them one-punch walk-off KOs. That was crazy. Sean O’Malley is coming. I know he hasn’t fought anyone ranked too high but he’s mowing down everyone they put in front of him. He’s definitely got himself a new fan. I bet he’s fighting for the belt before the end of 2021.

Congrats to Conor McGregor on his third retirement! He's now retired as many times as he's won championship fights! Should we call this the undisputed retirement since the last two were interim retirements?

Meh, this is the kind of thought process that gets propagated when champions go on streaks and look unstoppable in their fights. It seems like there's no end in sight. It happened with Ronda Rousey, GSP, Anderson Silva, Demetrious Johnson, etc.
100% of fighters who stick around long enough will falter and decline. Even if you take aging and MMA mileage out of the equation, the champs have a target on their back. Coaches and hungry up-and-coming fighters study them obsessively.

It didn’t even look like Nunes broke a sweat that fight. I’m shocked she didn’t KO that chick. She is a tough sob to go five rounds even after getting that nasty hematoma on her head. Champ champ should retire in my opinion while she is the cream of the crop. Maybe come out of retirement for a fight and bank.
I’m definitely ready to see O’Malley’s evolution in the UFC as well. His striking really is decent. I’m not 100% on the Suga Show bandwagon yet but I definitely see potential.
Conor and Silva should fight at catch weight, I don’t know why the UFC isn’t making that happen. I’d pay too much money to see that.

I don’t mean to say she will never be beaten, obviously her reign will end at some point, but for now she’s taken out all of the top contenders, and she’s still in her prime. Obviously she will decline at some point, but that time is not now. Did anyone think she was going to lose on Saturday? Until a new contender reveals themselves she’s as close to a sure thing there is in the UFC.
Maybe the break she’s about to take will put some ring rust on her and her next opponent will get a less than prime Nuñes to fight.

She’s flawless. I remember when she was still an up-and-comer and had no idea she would become as dominant as she is now.
I’m definitely on that bandwagon. I just heard some analyst say that Corey Sandhagen will be the champ within 4 years. I think O’Malley has a better chance of being the champ in 4 years. I know he hasn’t faced anyone super scary yet but he’s clowning the mopes they’re putting in front of him. The Irish last name, the big chest piece, the first round knockouts...I think he’s going to be a less douchey version of McGregor.
And fuck Conor for his attention seeking horse shit retirement. He’s done a lot of childish shit That I’ve let slide, but being so desperate for attention during this time is inexcusable. Let Amanda and the Bantamweights have their night. You can announce your fake retirement any time and people will notice. Trying to take the attention away from the fighters at UFC 250 is such a baby bitch move. That being said, totally agree with the Silva matchup. Just give him a fight. Any fight. Give him Silva, Diaz, Masvidal or whatever while we wait for Gaethje and Khabib. Sounds like Conor just wanted to have a fight scheduled and ufc didn’t make it happen quick enough so he has to throw another retirement tantrum.

It’s official! DC vs Stipe. UFC 252 Aug 15. I know DC has said this is 100% going to be his last fight ever. Stipe hasn’t officially “pre-retired” yet afaik, but I can’t see him fighting again after this one. Y’all think he stays on the roster and fights Francis again? Or Jon Jones?
I think the title gets vacated no matter who wins, and it’ll be Francis vs “insert top contender here” fighting for the belt in September or October. Plus Alexander Gustafson is returning to the octagon...at heavyweight?! That’ll be interesting to see where his skill level is at after all that time off. I’m sure Jon Jones will work out his beef with the UFC. And if he does go to heavyweight to fight Francis, that light heavyweight division is gonna be a fuckin snooze fest.

If Stipe Wins I think he'll take another couple fights.
I think DC will probably fight Jones again if he wins the Heavyweight belt. Jones will come up for a super fight.

That Poirier vs Hooker fight was a fuckin blast for everyone https://t.co/MSXq9qRMbw
I bet I had more fun watching than Poirier had fighting though.
I’m not putting it above Weili vs Jedrzejczyk but I got it as second best fight of the year so far. I got a lot of respect for Hooker after his fight with Felder earlier this year, and now I got much more respect for Poirier.
