Yeah man Jon seems so chill about it, Santos is legit. Think it'd be silly to bet against Jon though.
Think I'm more excited about Ben Askren tbh though

I'm also really excited about Askren's next fight, looks like it might be Masvidal and in that case I really don't know. I believe so much in Ben Askren's wrestling and conditioning but what I see as a huge part of his skill is the various mental abilities he shows in his fights. (I view him as one of the top mentally balanced, composed, intelligent AND very very tough and gritty mma fighters of any. As tough a Khabib but much more intelligent, believes as much in his own skills as Jones or Cormier believe in theirs, that's just his mentality. He truly and honestly sees himself as better than all of these guys and it's sincere conclusions from an intelligent athlete and you just see that true confidence shine in his eyes every time he talks about what he's going to do to them.

OK I'll let go of Mr Askren's nuts momentarily cause I really think Masvidal is the type of fighter that can ruin Askren's momentum even if I believe that would only happen about once or twice every ten fights if they fought. That's purely my gut talking and it doesn't make sense fully to me either

Nice predictions btw

Th Lion Jones is not going anywwhere soon. He just made it to the 30's; his competitors are older or just younger. And he has been destroying the legends since his inception.

Ben ~vs~ Masvidal is going to be good!

This is what I was saying about their match up, based on their styles Masvidal is inclined to take more risks and use more violent techniques to even the odds out and when it gets wild and unpredictable in there, then.. Then.. Idk.. Hehe

I had put a few bets down, all multisport with Masvidal to win, I am quite a happy camper for that knee to have happened.

Jorge Masvidal comes off as SUCH a tool.  The kind of guy that would have worn Scarface t-shirts in high school, which might partially explain how he picked up the nickname.  Pump the brakes on the title shot talk, he's 2-2 in his last four.  For the first time in his quite lengthy (34-13) career, he's got hype because of his back-to-back KOs of overrated fighters and Diaz brother-esque poise/persona.

People are really drawn to that pseudo "gangster" crap.  It's so cringe.

I'd like to see him have success, but I cannot stop rolling my eyes at the hype train for the "hardest man in MMA."

I agree, he's had 2 really good KOs and now him and Nate are probably going to fight for the some gangster bullshit. Not too excited about that one, but I'm sure it'll be a good scrap.

I am however super excited to See Iaquinta and the Hangman, now that it has been put on the izzy/Whittaker fight

Masvidal and Diaz are as real as it gets. Nothing "pseudo" about it.

Me too, but only because I rep the 209. I'm a fan of both of em.

Nate typically goes for submissions when his opponents start showing signs of broken spirit, when they no longer can hide or mask the fatigue or when they get so frustrated that they start making dumb mistakes, for example sloppy TD attempt, lazy scrambling or otherwise bad clinch positions in tired mode.

Nate is deceivingly strong (strong=good) in the clinch position when he pins his opponents against the fence, his physique resembles a mix of an marathon runner and a Bedminton player (seems he's even put on a decent amount of muscle mass over the last couple of years. Needless to say Nate's physique is made for endurance and all the running/cycling and swimming he does makes for hella fast recovery inbetween the rounds and inbetween tiresome exchanges (which he welcomes) Diaz actually wants you to scramble actively to escape his clinch. The main objective is not to pin you against the fence, it's to make you work and also Nate fires off lots of body shots in the clinch separation. You won't be in trouble in the specific clinch situation, but you'll feel the effects of it later in the fight when water gets deeper.

Since no one asked for my opinions about Masvidal either imma just to ahead and break down Masvidal as well. Jorge is mentally strong, has momentum and is IMO peaking right now in all ascpets and it shows in his fights. Can he KO Diaz in a 'technical brawl'? I doubt Masvidal will try to force anything or try anything crazy against a high level striker like Diaz, but Diaz weakness Imo is that he can at times (pretty often) for some reason decide not to block or check in some exchanges and these all add up on the score card eventually, and I can easily see Masvidal fight a smart fight and outscore a somewhat frustrated Diaz who didn't count on Gangster Jorge implementing intelligent strategies instead of flying knees from half court. But if he gets sucked into Nate's volume game then it will be a long night for Tony Montana guy. When I type on my phone it sounds like farts :bongload:

Yes. They are real... really not gangsters.  They're MMA fighters who grew up poor and got into street fights.

Conor going to get his ass WHOOPED by Cerrone at 170. His Manager needs to see a shrink.

Remember Cerrone was a top 10 ranked WW just a couple years ago. Conor wouldn't be a top 50 WW, he's too small. His strengths don't translate up that far. They barely translate to 155 if we're being honest. He's damn good at beating up people smaller than him but Cerrone is bigger, stronger, and has more Weapons.

McGregor beat Diaz at 170 in the rematch. Not to do MMA math, but that Nate Diaz was better than the one that beat Cerrone.

I think the major variable in this fight is that McGregor has competed ONCE in the Octagon in the past three years.  This could mean he's rejuvenated but also super rusty and uncomfortable in there.  I lean towards the former as McGregor rarely loses to opponents he doesn't prepare for.

Cerrone has looked shitty in his last two fights.  I believe he is fighting too frequently for his MMA age, and he's accumulating damage and MMA miles rapidly.

If Octagon rust isn't a major factor, it wouldn't surprise me if McGregor easily knocked him out round one or two like Gaethje did.

Diaz doesn't have the crisp wrestling take downs Cerrone does. I do think Cowboy is looking to put on a big show, an epic fight, more than simply winning. If Cerrone only cared about Winning I'd favor him 4:1 at 170. At 155 I'd favor him 2:1.

If Cowboy wants to put on a Diaz style stand up fight then it could go to a McGregor decision. I don't think Cowboy will let Conor Tee off on him for two rounds without firing back like Nate did.

Conor gasses when pressured and I'm a fan not a hater. The fight that made more sense was Holloway 2. Holloway has beat everyone at 145 and deserves a rematch. Porier is another rematch option. Better come back fights for McGregor at 155. Cerrone at 170 is a NIGHTMARE imo

I hope it's a good fight, but I'm predicting it's a primer fight to get people excited about McGregor again so they can make the Khabib vs. McGregor 2.  I'm not interested in seeing that at all.

McGregor is not a good champion. He wants the status of champion and the money, and he doesn't give a fuck about title defenses or putting a division on hold for years.

McGregor vs. Masvidal would be the most fun fight to make right now for both of them.  Masvidal is more durable and seems in his prime.
