Have you watched the weigh-ins? Hendricks didn't make weight at first, he was a pound and a half over.He looked horrible! Face thin, shaky... man these weight cuts must be hard on the body. Robbie looked very good though so I' m starting to worry especially since I've made a bet with a girl on G+: she roots for Robbie and I root for Johny so the loser has to post a picture of himself with a big L on his forehead

But after watching to weigh-ins... I'm a bit worried

In high school I was cutting 7 lbs from a natural 119 to 112 my freshman year for wrestling. I was sick the entire time it was awful. All though I won 75% of my matches and took 5th in state I could have done much better from sweating and starving myself to death. Cutting weight sucks spent a whole 3 months doing it weekly.

Would have beat the #1 seed if I was healthy was up 3 points going into the 2nd but my body was just so exhausted cutting 5 lbs from the night before. Total bummer.

You know how hard it is to lose 5-7 lbs from 117. Wearing every jacket the team had and running for 2 hours straight. Was pure torture. For every weekend 3 months straight. What I'm getting at is ya I know exactly what you described.

Oh man... and to think that Hendricks had to cut 20-25 pounds. I'm wondering, why the fuck doesn't he fight at middle-weight or even light heavy weight?!

Predictions of the main card, at a glance.

Johny Hendricks vs. Robbie Lawler
Carlos Condit vs. Tyron Woodley
Diego Sanchez vs. Myles Jury
Jake Shields vs. Hector Lombard
Ovince St. Preux vs. Nikita Krylov

Tough card to make picks. Especially since I haven't really kept up with the sport the past few years, hence I haven't seen how these fighters have evolved.

If I had to put money on any fight, it'd probably be the Hendricks fight. Wouldn't mind being wrong though.

If I had to put money on these fights, I would go :
Lawler (KO)
Condit (DEC/SUB)
Sanchez(TKO)
HECTOR!!!!!! ATT! (Shields will come in and try to put hector on his back right away, but Hector has that mean ATT patented Butterfly Guard to get him back up..... in theory)
St. Preux(Dunno) lol

Going to be a HUGE card.... I'm at that point in the day again... been fighting with myself all day. Trying not to order this fight... my wife is gunna leave me if I get another one! ...... that would leave me a lot of time to travel... no, no, no. Cant do it... :crazy2:

4/5 correct.  Go me.

Glad to see that Lawler vs. Hendricks was a close decision.  I'm curious as to how much Hendricks is going to evolve as a fighter to maintain his title in a quickly evolving and excellent division.

Great card but.... Hector was very disappointing (seen him fight in person three times with all three ending with him knocking someone out cold!)
Diego's style wont cut it anymore... obviously against top notch technical fighters (BJ being the best example) his crazy exciting, bite down on your mouthpiece and throw down style wont get him any gold...
It was a shame that Condit lost because of that injury... it was shaping up to be a great fight!
Immediate rematch!!! No doubt Johny won that fight 3 rounds to 2 but it was such a great fight!!!! And I was bummed out that Johny took him down with 1:10 left in the 5th... obviously it was an intelligent and the correct thing to do to win the title but I really would have liked to see them end it standing up. I mean, it was a close round and I'm a huge Ruthless fan but I thought Hendricks was getting the better of Robbie in the 5th...but I'm not Johny and he took him down, held him there for the last minute and won his belt. Great fight nonetheless!
And last but not least, that Von Flue choke in the first fight, has to be in the top ten submissions at the end of the year! Sic!!!! Best part of the whole card IMO!

Yeah man, the Von Flue was surprising to say the least. I was watching, kinda spacing out and out of the blue I see the ref stopping the fight and I think: WTF ref?!

Then I understood. Man, so great.

And I'm so fuckin' sad for Condit. He's my favorite fighter and I really hope his injury won't keep him out of the octagon for too long, it was indeed shaping up to be a great fight.

In the end I'm glad I won my bet but I never thought the Hendrick vs Lawler fight would go the distance. Really didn't and I'm probably not the only one. Somehow I don't think he'll keep that belt for too long but I might be wrong. Who's next? What do you think guys? Woodley? Or as Joe Rogan said, since Woodley's victory is due to an injury, Rory MacDonald should be the next challenger?

But Rory just got beat up by Robbie... I think it should be a rematch. Why not??? It was an amazing fight, close and a rematch would bring in a lot of money... Id pay to see it.

Yeah I guess you're right! Robbie seemed bummed about his loss so he's probably up for a re-match.

I'm admittedly tired of the immediate rematches; they're rarely particularly surprising.  Unless it's a highly controversial decision (like GSP vs. Hendricks or Machida vs. Shogun), then I feel like it's just part of the hype machine that is the UFC.

More interesting to see a fighter challenged by a variety of opponents and the losers to forced evolve, IMO.  I did not actually get to see the Hendricks-Lawler fight start to finish though.

It was amazing. And hype is money... they don't get the fans excited about the fights, people lose interest.

I don't normally call for a rematch unless, like you said, it was debatable the first fight or or if it was just an incredible fight. And it was so close, so back and forth, so exciting, how could you say Robbie doesn't deserve one more shot? Johny didn't win that fight till 3:50 into the last round.... Robbie deserves another shot IMO.
