Well I'm sure we're all very excited to see Michael Bisping yet again duck legit contenders so he can fight old men who want to retire, or in this case, a small welterweight who retired in 2013.

I don't know. Bisping might combo his ass all night and move to avoid the take downs. Early stoppage if Bisping wins. They should have done Nick Diaz vs GSP.

Bisping is a built up fighter to get the UK market dollars. GSP makes a mockery of him sir.

The rumors are that GSP is still fully capable of out-wrestling light heavyweights like Rashad Evans. The rumors are also that GSP can make lightweight.
I hope it's entertaining, but it's not a fight I was interested in seeing booked.
Also, I thought this was an interesting tidbit from an article:
Quote:
Unlike boxing, the UFC used to force its best fighters to actually fight one another. Since being purchased by the super-agents at WME-IMG for $4 billion, the organization has been high on spectacle and low on quality. That’s why GSP got to skip the line and take on Bisping, though Yoel Romero and Jacare Souza are far more deserving of a title shot. It’s why UFC created the new women’s featherweight division just to appease Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino. And it’s why 41-year-old Anderson Silva is rumored to be in the running for a title shot.
UFC 209 looked like it was going to be a mixture of the good old days plus a dose of McGregor drama. Now, it’s going to be an event for fight fans and fight fans only. Which isn’t a horrible thing. There are still a bunch of really credible matches on the card and Tyron Woodley will still defend his title against Stephen Thompson.

Sick of money fights. I want to see champions fight the best in their division. Michael Bisping's purposely avoiding real contenders by fighting old men and a small welterweight who could fight lightweight.
Romero, Jacara, Rockhold, Weidman, and Mousasi, and heck, probably Whittaker all pose a serious threat to his title.

This thread has been neglected as of late. You folks still UFC fans?
The event yesterday and the Gustafsson vs. Teixeria FN were both on point in terms of entertainment value and relevance.
These days, Dana White looks more and more like a gigantic piece of scum-sucking shit. He's always been a professional liar, given that he's a businessman and a combat sports promoter, which is a double whammy of bullshit. But in the WME-IMG era, where bad fighter treatment has been the tale of the tape, Dana White has been exposed as a true company man who always sides against the fighters.
I'd love to see a headline about how a fighter lost his temper and finally beat the shit out of the bald liar.

Holm should be fighting Cyborg. Holm barely lost to Germaine the 'Champion' who got stripped. Holm's a much better fighter than this punching bag they're feeding to Cyborg. Plus Holm looks like she probably has taken some mexican supplements at some point in her life, though not for the extended period of time Cyborg did

Holm vs cyborg would be interesting. Simply for the fact that holms a counter striker and looks most impressive when she's being pressured. Otherwise she waits too much and her fights just kind of lack excitement.
But the nunes schevchenko card is STACKED. God damn shame they pulled the lawler-cerrone fight from it though. That is an mma fans dream right there! But still, whittaker n yoel are both beasts, that's a tough one to call for me. But the return of Anthony Pettis should be entertaining, n Jim miller fuckin brings it so I'm excited about that fight Too

TBH, I thought Michael Johnson vs. Justin Gaethje was a promotional mistake. Feeding an undefeated talent from a much smaller promotion to a top 5 lightweight guy as a headliner. That's ridiculous. But damn, he did his shit and made headlines.
Not only that, he did something very intelligent that I wish was ubiquitous in MMA fights. He dropped Michael Johnson several times, and instead of panic-rush/grapple/clinch him in to attempt to "finish," he forced him to stand. ALL fighters need to take note of this tactic, including Michael Johnson. This is what you do if you want to actually increase your chances for a solid TKO/KO stoppage.
Unless you're a wizard on the ground and your opponent is dogshit on the ground, you should force a wobbly, concussed fighter to stand. Period. Examples: Luke Rockhold vs Michael Bisping 1, Gunnar Nelson vs Alan Jouban, etc. Otherwise, make them stand up, which they will suck at, and T/KO them.
Fabricio Werdum could have KO'd Overeem last night after he dropped him if he did just this. Michael Johnson himself could have won the fight with that exact tactic when he wobbled Gaethje the two or three times that he did. There are a gajillion other examples in MMA where this tactic could have been employed for a better fight outcome.
I hope Gaethje goes places
