I didn't think anyone would even open the thread for this UFC. Not every card can be amazing I guess.

I think it's an excellent card for MMA fans. Not every card is going to receive the Diaz-McGregor mainstream marketing and media hype.
You've got a main event with four heavyweight fighters all known for exciting finishes, the CM Punk freakshow fight, Jimmie Rivera potentially continuing his long MMA win streak, and two strawweights coming off wins.
I see why some analysts are leaning towards Overeem. He has extraordinarily refined striking skills, experience advantage, and can deal with wrestling/BJJ fighters. Most importantly, I think he's been coming into fights more mentally prepared than he was even just a couple of years ago. When Overeem loses, it's generally because his demonstrates a disdain for his opponents skillset and leaves his chin open. He seems to have overcome that carelessness and I think he has a huge opportunity to silence the crowd with a T/KO.
That being said, Overeem's chin is questionable and I doubt his cardio is up to par with Miocic. Miocic's best chance is coming in with a refined gameplan- probably dragging the fight into the distance while patiently looking for that opportunity to crack Overeem on the button.
---
I kind of hate it when fighters headline in their hometown. It plays a substantial role in the mindset of the fighters. If Miocic loses in Cleveland, you know he's going to hang himself.

I'm always up for a Faber fight. Even though he isn't near what he used to be I still root for him.

Faber is trash, he tried low blows and eye pokes got beaten despite it.

Both are jokes. Maybe the heavyweights do better.

God dammit Reem. Werdum put on an epic clinic though. Travis with his time, time out ref, just one second move lol. He deserved that face punch after trying to call time out!

Travis had a broken finger and fought with one hand the majority of the fight which made it boring as fuck. The CM Punk fight sucked too. The only exciting fight on the main card was Stipe vs Overeem which was great. Love Stipe!

I give him props, looks like he has a solid liver punch. He sure isn't slowing down as he is getting older.

Absolutely! I hope Johnson brings his A-game. When he fought Diaz, he had nothing to solve that puzzle - it wasn't a back and forth, and I felt bad for him because he was looking like a fool (and he isn't).
The co-main should be fire also.

It's a little weird that Poirier, who's on a streak of four fantastic wins is fighting a guy who's on a two fight losing streak. Not that Michael Johnson sucks by any stretch.

Using PEDs really does turn back time. He takes testosterone on a weekly basis, HGH, and armodafinil.
That being said, he's also a lifelong martial artist who obviously values his fitness and physique.

Oh shit, meltdown averted - I think the first fight is mid-way.
Man.. At 8pm, they should just turn off the baseball field lights and tell the guys good game, good game - go home. And give them a participation award or something.

Not UFC related, but I won my division in a big jiu jitsu tournament today. Now I'm qualified to enter the world championships in December.
